that's a bit of a flawed premise.
Surfer has very few showings of physical power. due to the nature of his environment it's all pretty much blasting and exploring in space.
what we do have, as a testament to his physical power, is his 0 loss record against a variety of Hulks. from Bannerless (who was beating Thor like he was a rag doll) to Savage (who was getting progressively angrier and using more and more force in each of his attacks, and who is greater in power than Thor without Mjolnir) and of course Green Scar (though both were depowered, Surfer was completely cut off from the Power Cosmic in the universe).
moreover, Superman is <<<<<<<<<<<< Teneberous/Aegis, and Surfer can stand up to either of them for a good while (more than enough time to take apart a character like Superman).
I'd bet UniLord >>>>> Superman, that sounds like a more reasonable assumption.

Surfer has no showings of durability there that supes couldnt pull off as well..
Dominus>>>>T&Á and SS by a whole lot. Sun eater is above surfer as are gog, blaze, and darkseid.
0 loss record against hulk doesnt mean much when ss has other optioons. in his best h2h showing against hulk...both were weakened.
the durability showings are to illustrate how little effect an attack by Superman would have on Surfer (provided Surfer was kind enough to stand still and make a target for him).
Surfer's defeated Hulk using gamma draining yes, but the fact is that he's also taken some of Bannerless Hulk's best attacks without even the faintest of effects on his person. he even conducted a "study" of Savage Hulk whilst Hulk pummelled away at him, growing progressively angrier and (of course) more powerful.
He has also stopped Hulk in his tracks merely by lifting his hand to block Hulk's attack.
Surfer has strength, more than equal to the task of facing off against Superman, it's just that he's so ridiculously versatile that he rarely ever resorts to using strength.

And does Superman have any showings of pure durability that you doubt Surfer couldn't replicate?
SunEater is above Surfer, definitely?
Gog and Blaze are above Surfer?
Gog's nowhere near above Surfer in capability.
His main threat comes from the timestream plucking.
And Blaze??
Now, if you said Satanus, i could believe it somewhat.
But Blaze?
And i don't wanna start the Dominus debate again.
