I agree.

Although I believe that this tournament would still have been fine if people had actually followed through their commitment. Right now there is what, 3-4 teams left?

If you can't follow through...don't sign. That's what I believe.

People generally don't understand the comittment level and the time involved in a tourney. That's a big reason why experience means so much, because with newcomers there's usually about a coin flip's chance that they won't stay the course and be consistently strong enough to win the thing.

There's no real solution, since everyone is "good to go" a the beginning, regardless of any advice and/or friendly warnings they receive about the committment involved.

To that end, there's a lot to be said for takng one's tme and getting things right in tourneys, but quick ones generally have better success with involvement for precisely this reason.

Yup pretty much.

Although I'm mad I had to drop out of this one.

It's hilarious how Smurph's team creates an opening post almost a week after the match starts.

Unfair advantage ftw...

We have been different. We've posted our opening strategies the very first day the matches have started.

Posting your prep post/opening statement late gives you the opportunity to study theirs and plan accordingly.

They barely had a plan, and we didn't address it. I copy and pasted most of my write-up from my previous write-ups... then just posted about how they were Team Genocide.

Even if I had looked at their write-up, I don't see how that would be shown in the one I submitted...

ok, i can see what you mean, but to be honest, i was just so bogged down, and i was still reading up on their characters (as spot was literally the only one i'd known), so it literally just was that late...

and i'm pretty sure none of our prep is in direct response to theirs (seeing as i never read it until after we posted ours, and i'd gone through ours with smurph)

And? Either way, it's still an advantage to post an opening statement late like that.

I think Illa should have put a time restriction on our opening statement deadlines.

Fair enough.

if charlotte or any of her team have any issues whatsoever, i have no problem talking to them about it...

Which would have been against the rules and I assume edited out or been ignored by the judges as happened in a previous match.

...and thus begins the waiting game...

😏

I did my best to recruit a couple well-known and knowledgable members as judges for ill, in addition to the few that have been consistently judging (my thanks to them all, btw), so hopefully judging doesn't take too long. I don't mind the reprieve, but I also hope that the suspense I'll have for a few days doesn't give way to boredom.

Also, just as a side note, the judging speed in this tourney has been a joke. 😬

I'm trying to round up the judges. Bada is confirmed. I'm trying to get Validus and Jason as well (so I won't have the final say in the matches myself).

Alright.

In fact the only issue is that I had no time on my weekend to answer that whatsoever- posting a day before closing is really "great" idea. You always posted late during tourney, through, but late writeups is the reasons I've voted for Smurph in Evangel's tourney.

Probably the first pick for that tourney- my B*tch of Fire amalgam (Jakita Wagner+K'+Kenshiro). Warning- probably PG-13

Grr...

...this judge situation has me extremely vexed...

Sorry guys. We're just having some reliability issues.

Hey ill, Soljer said he'd be willing to judge. Not sure if you have him already or not...

Soljer was initially my second in command and then disappeared.

I'll PM him.

I've been fairly interested in getting involved in tourney's. Not too sure if I'm confident enough in my skills to go directly into one, but I'm fairly objective, and now that finals are over, have hella time. I'd love to volunteer to judge if you're still having problems with that.
