The battlefields have been posted since mid November. I was hoping that you all would have done your homework over the last 3 months and known the properties of each of the battlefields. I even encouraged as much when I stated that all battlefields will be fully interactive.

Strategy is key.

As is planning ahead.

Your messed up Ill 😆

Seriously, evil as well 😛

just to be clear, is there anyway that butcher demons have ever been killed or destroyed in any of the games? Also what are they powered by? Spirits, being actual demons?

Spoiler:

Continuing from the last post...

Rather than having hundreds of butcher demons for those contestants that felt like going on genocidal rampages where they had to kill everything in site. A movement system has been put in place with percentages to encounter the regular denziens of Silent Hill as well as based on how many people were killed the butcher demon. the more people that a contestant has slain the greater the chance of encountering a butcher demon they purchased for themselves with the blood of the innocent and not so innocent. That's right as we see with the case of eddie even serial killers blood will taint hands if spilled.

Now while I'm sure that the contestants will have no problems dispatching pesky lesser demons. You'd best pray (heh) that you don't encounter the nightmares pulled from the characters psyches as a means to chastize them for their actions. I'm sure you'll get the point in the end of self restraint. Just because you can do something with the freedom given to you by our dearest host of hosts, doesn't mean you should.

Now Delph I need to talk to you about the post limit idea and a grid system for a map and the informing the contestants of if they encounter a demon thing... fleshing out the silent hill zone will be great for your upcoming leuge I think. It is really a rather novel battlefield.

They have NEVER been killed by the person they are hunting. Even getting their own weapons away from them that can kill anything in a single hit. Being derived from the psyche of the hunted it is impossible for the hunted to kill these hunters.

I get off work at 4p (PST) this week so I'll hit you up on MSN.

Oh one more thing...

Spoiler:
As a reward to those who have remained pure and innocent, as it turns out the town looks completely normal and fog free to those with no darkness in their hearts.

Hell only serves to punish the wicked, and spares the innocent.

Smurph darling, I hope you have a coffin and white shoes as it turns out our both teams are doomed here. Probably.

A little thing. IIRC, Piramide Head doesn't manifest all of sudden just because you kill someone. It's not Silient Hill that pronounces you guilty, it's your psyche- whether you regret about kill and want to be punished or not.
So realistically speaking, killing "Joes Nobodies" won't affect you here- it's the number of people you have seen for more than a minute that should affect you.

It's important whether you want to be punished or not. Eddy Dombrovsky has killed, and killed a lot, but he wasn't affected by Pyramide Heads at all🙂
If anything, Team Smurph is the one who is going to face Pyramide Head- they had a teenage boy to participate in a murder of his close friends and a girlfriend. We don't have said problem with Jakita Wagner as she didn't participate directly in the murder of Snow&Drummer.

But once again, that's all up to judges to decide whether it operates on guilt (it was feeling of guilt that caused Pyramide Head to manifest), not simply on every act of killing. Feeling guilty about the kill is the must for that. But I'll leave that to Ill to decide.
Dombrovsky has killed, but he didn't feel the guilt so he saw Silient Hill as the dark shadowy thing, no Pyramid Heads- game canon. As long as we're killing those we shouldn't be guilty about- no PHs for us.

They're powered up by your feeling of guilt. That's invulnerable physical manifestation of that feeling. So our prep for the last round didn't include Jakita participating in killing her friends to prevent that sad situation.
Not all kills are the same. And it's you that should feel guilt about your action, not the place that declares you guilty. The guy hunted for by Pyramide Head has his mind "overloaded" by guilt.

Actually

Spoiler:
its pretty clear from diolouge with Eddie that he too was called to silent hill, and his mental state also slowly depletes until you have to fight him to the death, and after doing so he correctly concludes that james is a murderer as well. We actually do not know for certain if he encountered pyramid heads or not. After all travis was remoresless about killing his mother but he still got a butcher demon on him.

So ANY contestant whom was involved with killing will suffer the fate. And the more you killed the worse it is. There is no bargining, or rationalizing your way out of this.

Silent hill is hell

Spoiler:
Not the case with Travis. 😉

Quit trying to rationalize away the features of the battlefield.

Just a reminder to those in the Silent Hill match:
Its one demon per kill in the tournament.
Any kill that occured before the tourny began does not count. Ex: (Jason Todd's murder doesn't count against the Joker)
Every kill that occured afterthe tourny began (including from the very first prep) counts.
The demons will spawn in areas they can get to you.
They come in the form of the characters worst fear and in a form that they can get to you. (They fly to get to people who fly they swim for those that swim, they burrow for those that burrow)

Looks like Team Akuki is going to win their match by forfeit...

Some thoughts:

I like ill's decision to experiment with using a different forum for matches, but I'll concede that I still prefer KMC. Tourneys are competitions, sure, but they're also social experiences on the board...and each one of my matches was read by my team, my opponents, and a few judges. No one else (maybe 1-2, to be fair). It's all a bit too sequestered for my tastes. Heck, a couple people have asked me if the tourney ever happened because they only follow such things casually.

The move to judges over general popular vote was a necessary move for obvious reasons, but I can't help but feel like a certain momentum was gained in past tourneys from "great" or controversial matches that caught the public eye and had a lot of views.

Maybe that will change if the Zod forum gets more hits as more things happen there. But that's the impression I got as I realized, somewhere in the middle of an argument between me and DC, that he and I were nearly the only parties that would actually think about that particular topic that much (as well as observant judges).

What is the current status of this tournament? Has a champion been declared yet?

We're in the second match of the semifinals which are best of 3.

I agree.

Although I believe that this tournament would still have been fine if people had actually followed through their commitment. Right now there is what, 3-4 teams left?

If you can't follow through...don't sign. That's what I believe.
