I thought it was just a story.

It can be both, I made it up so I guess it could become a story instead.

I still have no idea where these things come from, It's like another game, you end up in a mine shaft at the beginning and have to save slaves, but you can't understand alien until you find the translator, yes anyway a list later on one of the enemies.

What genre is this game?

I am stuck between 3RD Person shooter, First Person shooter, or Tatical.

One is from there perspective, the other is you seeing the character and able to move the camera around.

Like Gears Of War is 3rd Person
Halo 3 is First person.
