Story hereRest of the article is pretty disturbing. Oh and Utah is the only state with one.
Highschool is only usefull to those willing to learn. If you are uninterested in learning. Highschool will benefit you with only social development. Dropping out of highschool is not nearly as fatal to one's future as people make it out to be.

I agree but the dropout factory means 60 percent do not even make it to their senior year. That's alarming.
I know why that would seem alarming to many people. I do know there is a solid argument to give credence to being alarmed. Personally,i do not see the problem here. This to me doesnt reflect on the school systems and their curriculum. As i have said before, if the person is not interested in education. School is not going to benefit that person. Many young adults dropout of highschool to later realize their thirst to learn and the importance of an education. contrary to popular belief. Dropping out of highschool doesnt hinder you from obtaining a successful life. You can still take steps to attend Universities if that is your desire. There are more programs today than there ever has been in assisting under educated adults.
I believe there are kids skipping highschool and going directly into a trade/tech school. Experience is infact more important than a lavish education history, Depending on the job.
I can turn on the TV and tell you this optimistic view is not neccesairly the case.
I refuse to cite the example to the rule as the standard that I use to gauge my views. I'm in the area (the South) where this occurs most often, and believe me they do not give a **** and do not have a plan for their futures, as a majority

Yes, i know this is a astounding fact. I just argue the idea that these people would have any different of a future had they opted to stay in school. After becoming an adult i realized that there are people that just dont want anything out of life other than comfort that comes from instant gratification.
There has always been Those two kinds of people. Those whom want to succeed and those who dont care or dont know how. I believe there are more programs today promoting self preservation in the way of education than ever before. The trade industry is booming. With the only requirment being a GED to attend a tech school, there is no excuse other than lack of ambition to explain lack of education. When a 20 year old high school dropout cannot pass a GED test. It is not because the school systems failed them. It is because they failed themselves. A 7th grader can pass a GED test.

I think "No Child Left Behind" is probably the most insane, lunatic educational law passed in modern times. There's just so much backward, bizzare thinking in that law that it's hard to imagine what mental problems lead to it.

Schools that has more then a certain number of expulsions are classified as "Dangerous".
Now, any rational person should be able to realize that all this will do is create a situation where dangerous people won't be removed...
I picture some congressman thinking "Boy, schools will be a lot safer if you keep a bunch of unsafe people in them."

I agree. Our highschools are incredible, it's the people/Additude towards education that's causing this problem, not the Schhols.
Please take into account that all high schools are not the same. SOme are extrememly poor in all facets.

Dangerous schools 😂
Even when a child is expelled, they are required to attend an alternative school. I have read several studies that state and have known several friends that actualy benefited from attending alternate schools after being expelled. I know this is most likely not common, but i think it goes to show that ambition can sometimes be related to enviorment. The most prestigous of schools can hold a negative enviorment for young adults. Whether this negative enviorment was self imposed or externally influenced. There are many factors that go into a dropout factor other than the quality of the school.
So, yeah i whole heartedly agree with you. Keeping disruptive kids who persist to exhibit violent or distracted tendancies should at the very least be offered to attend alternate schools. These alternate schools cater to kids with learning obstacles.
Even more, If a person decides to dropout of school at the age of eighteen or acquires their parents permission at sixteen should not be categoized as a negative statistic. They are eighter making an adult decision, or have adult permission.

Yeah... But this rule is making it so that they WON'T expell them, because Schools don't want a "Dangerous" rating... They'd be out of there if that rule didn't exist.
oh yeah, i know. I think it is ridiculous. i was trying to say that there should be enough to show that expulsion has no bearing on the education offered to a child.
The no child left behind policy is silly. It is to say that children were left behind before this policy, but schooling has been a requirement for some time. I believe it has been a requirement that children under the age of eighteen attend school since the 80's. I could be completely wrong, but i know this was the case when i was going through school, before the no child left behind crap
