I think the solar system thing was simply speculation. I highly, highly doubt it was anywhere near the size of a solar system.

Plus if the wheels worked like gears or cogs. Thats the purpose of a machine with cogs and wheels of different sizes, so it requires much less force to turn as 1 huge wheel. Making the whole thing turn using less force.
There are cog wheel machines that are pretty big and with alot of wheels inside. still, a child can turn a lever powering the whole thing.
