Is Dragon still being used? Because I may have a feat where he get so burned, his foot falls off when someone hangs onto him, he gets back up and carries on as normal.

I want a better clarification of which version of Spartan is going to be used, because one of his later versions literally becomes God.

Are the votes against Synch based on what the amalgam will become or what synch is at base?

At Base Synch can only temporarily duplicate the powers of other MUTANTS. But the other mutant ahas to be present. By hilmself Synch can't even beat two normal teenagers. His powers alone amount to nothing. Two townies nearly beat Synch to death because they wetre not mutants. That is certainly well below meta level and isn't even high or mid street level. There's no way he breaks the caps.

And as far as I saw there were no caps as to what the amalgam can become if the individual components of it don't break the caps. So the votes against synch have to be based off of more than just the individual character.

It seems that way to me, too. And they should be based off the character alone, not how well power meshing might work.

More effectively then Spidey? I...really don't see how. Spider-Man is as effective with his powers as can be.

And the ability to gain knowledge of how to use something is not banned, as far as I can recall. And besides, if the character is skilled enough with his or her powers, Synch can't really do anything with them that the character can't do themselves. Take Banshee for example.

Again, power copying is not banned. We are not breaking the rules in any way. We are not going through loopholes, we even specified all of this with Illadelph beforehand and asked this before him.

Individually, Synch is about as usable as any other random teenager. As there is no ban on amalgamations and characters acting together, what he becomes with others does not matter.

On a nutshell, Synch can't be banned because of his potential of acting with others. This applies to every other character in the tournament.

Going with the scenario that Jubilee's powers under Synch's/Sage's control would be uber, wouldn't that put Jubilee herself out of running for this level?

Aren't the tourney caps placed on actual power and not the way in which a power is used or the mental limitations a character knowingly or unknowingly places on him/herself?

If that's the case then any "latent" ability which could prove to be above the caps would mean that the character in question shouldn't be allowed in in the first place ..... right?

I think the problem with synch is the potential thing.

See if he was just a power copier that would be fine, because he'd have to figure them out on the fly. But He also understands them PERFECTLY. He'd be able to kick Wolverines ass with the guys own powers.

I doubt that, Wolverine would have a massive fighting skill and attitude advantage ... and of course there's the adamantium.

There's only so much skill a healing factor requires (in many cases none at all)

No, he wouldn't. Wolverine has a healing factor, claws, and superhuman senses. Synch would not get his fighting skills, or his experience. He would still lose. There is no ban on knowledge, would you ban Prodigy because he absorbs the skills of anyone he is near?

And like I said, if the user is sufficiently skilled with their powers, he isn't using them any better. See Banshee, or M, or Emplate (who he could not absorb because he could not handle some of the qualities of his powers). Will he use them better then inexperienced kids of Generation X? Sure. Better then Cyclops, or Storm, or Shadowcat? Hell no.
