The official "What's this Movie?" thread!

Started by JejuneRaccoon73 pages

I hope this is the correct place to post my question - I looked around and it seemed best to keep this sort of question to this particular thread.

Anyway, I would like some help in identifying a movie. I remember seeing some of it when I was little, and this scene is all that is left with me. If anyone can identify it, not only would I be grateful but it'd really prove some killer movie knowledge!

It was a horror movie from either the 70's or 80's, and all I recall is that a boy is in the kitchen chopping some vegetables or fruit and chops off his finger. His mother is swimming (I think) and comes in upset for having been disturbed, throws his finger into the sink and locks him in his room.

Thanks for the help!

(P.S. I asked in another forum a while back and someone said it sounded like a grindhouse film, if that helps.)

Okay, I remember seeing previews at the theater about a group of scientists that create some type of time machine. They go back to what looks like the prehistoric time and get the normal warning about not touching anything to avoid changing the future. While in the past they have to stay on a certain path and at some point one of the people step on a moth or butterfly and track it back to the present on his shoe. That's about all I remember from the preview but I don't remember seeing the movie released.

Does anyone have any clue? I wold appreciate any help, this has been bugging me for a couple months now

Sounds like A Sound of Thunder to me.

I need help identifying what I think is a movie. It involved two teens, a boy and a girl, travelling through different dimensions. They were guided by some older guy who seemed to be their mentor. I know in one part they were in an elevator and then the floor fell from underneath them into black nothingness. Only the mentor was floating and the boy grabbed his leg. There was another part where they're in this desert place and the mentor says, "Don't turn around," and the boy's like, "Why not?" And the mentor says, "Or you'll turn inside out." Then at the end the mentor turns out to be bad and he and the boy fight each other in all these different dimensions and then they go back to the desert place and the boy stabs his staff into the mentors chest, leaving an unrealistic hole which sucks the mentor in. Those are the only parts I can remember.

That's it, thank you for the help!!!

what are these movies called?

Hi! Hoping someone can help me find out the names of 2 movies I saw back in the late 70's or Early 80's. I saw them on tv so they may be made-for-tv movies. They stuck with me because they were so traumatizing at the time....

1. A husband an wife go camping for their honeymoon and a stranger shows up and kills their dog (retriever I think) and forces the husband to bury it. Then he kills the husband and keeps the wife for himself. By the end of the movie she is so brainwashed that she doesn't even try to get away. I don't remember who the actors were but I 'm pretty sure that the wife had long blond hair.

2. Just a snippet that I remember of the second movie, A stranger kills a obese mans poodle and then force feeds it to him through a funnel until the man chokes and dies...(sorta like in the movie Seven)

Pretty morbid and creepy...I know....I am hoping to see these again through adult eyes and maybe they won't seem so bad. 8 )

thanks

Never mind. I figured mine out. But now I've just thought of three more.

1. An Italian film, I think. This boy becomes obsessed with this woman who moves into town, even though the rest of the town doesn't like her. And I remember his dad tells him that when someone smashes the head of "their great leader," he can have long pants. Later he smashes a statue head and gets pants.

2. This guy transforms himself into a personified swarm of flies. Later it's revealed that both his wife and his son have powers. Then the kid gets bullied at school and gets a dry brush across the chest. Then the coach goes to the kid's house and talks to his mom, but the whole time he's getting sick. I don't remember the rest or how it ends.

3. This former doctor guy gets a ride from this black guy (played by someone famous) who has his car's interior covered with pornography. Later on, it's revealed that the guy who gave the doctor a ride is a bad guy, and he ends up slashing somebody's thigh, and he says something like, "It's too late for him, doc." And the whole movie takes place in the mountains or somewhere cold.

I realize that's a heavy load, but if any of these sound familiar, please tell me.

That's Theatre of Blood, in which Vincent Price's character (a hammy Shakespearean actor) force-feeds a cooked poodle to Robert Morley's character (a critic who wrote a bad review of the actor). Ick.

Awesome! Thanks PinkFreud! I was beginning to think I made it all up in my head!

Now hopefully I'll be able to find a copy of it to watch.... (can't imagine why....just morbid curiousity I guess!)

Thanks again. 8 )

50s horror, dinosaur eggs

Hi, what's this movie?

A typical black and white '50s-era creature feature about some scientists somewhere in southern california desert area who find some dinosaur eggs and try to incubate them with disastrous results. Does anyone know the name of this movie? Thanks.

I have been searching for that movie as well but can't remember anything else about it. I do remember some boy getting infected with the black stuff as well.... google and imdb provided nothing.

I finally stumbled across it with this google search:
growing towers of rock movie scifi
The name is The Monolith Monsters

The "What's this Movie?" thread.

Wow. Thanks Halt00. I had given up on ever finding out what this movie was called. Thank you X

Now I just need to find a region 2 version.

Thanks xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Tough one

I'm looking for a name of a movie - b-grade and honestly probably the worst movie I've ever seen but for some odd reason I just want to know what it was called.

[B]I need help with the title of a movie. I would say it was made in '86 or '87. All I can remember is the awesome music at the end and one scene.
There is a black guy who for some reason had to dress up as a woman at some point in the film. The scene I remember is him on a date and he forgot the fake fingernails that he had on. He puts his hands under the table and rips them off one by one while trying to look like he's listening to his date.....

I know it's been over a year since the person asked this question - but just in case they never found the answer. The movie is "He's My Girl" starring David Hallyday and TK Carter. Bryan (Hallyday) wins a music contest which involves a trip for two to LA, but the (totally unrealistic) catch is that he must bring a girl. But Bryan doesn't have a girlfriend. And since his best friend Reggie (Carter) was the one who entered him into the contest - they hatch a ridiculous plan for Reggie to pose as his girlfriend Regina. Of course they both fall in love, Reggie & Bryan both struggling to hide 'Regina' from their girls, while also trying to foil an evil Promoter's plan to steal Bryan's song.

Very 80's, very corny ... I was about 7 or 8 when it came out and I totally LOVED it!

--------------------

So my movie question will be a tough one to answer...

I would have seen it around 1993 while I was staying in a hotel in California - not sure if it was being aired on TV or on one of those pay-tv services the hotel provides.

The details are all very hazy, it was so long ago, so it's all going to be very vague. So vague, I'll be shocked if anyone knows what I'm talking about!

There were these two guys, possibly cops, they were the heroes of the movie. And there was possibly a girl also, maybe she becomes a love interest to one of the guys.

In one scene towards the end they are in this warehouse or office type of place - and there are probably a half a dozen bad guys (Possibly more) in different parts of this building. As the heroes move through the room to find the ultimate baddie, they are getting shot at by the baddies - and each time the bad guys fire of dozens of rounds and always seem to miss the heroes. The heroes then fire one shot and kill the bad guys - typically cheesy hollywood b-grade rubbish!

Breaking glass, bullets flying everywhere but the heroes remain unscathed as they pick the bad guys off one by one.

HOWEVER, one of the heroes actually gets shot (FINALLY!) - in the shoulder or chest ... again sketchy details. The other guy gets a credit card and jams it into the wound - he says it acts like a vacuum and will seal the wound temporarily.
And then in a [begin sarcasm] fine example of acting [/end sarcasm] was that the guy who got shot actually jumps up and continues running around shooting at people as though he hasn't been seriously injured.

It was a totally unrealistic film, and really really lame. I want to be able to have a good laugh with my brother over it - cause it was part of a memory of good times when we were kids!

Here's my query:

The movie was set in modern day Los Angeles. A group of friends go to dinner and, by the end of the meal, all have confessed deep, dark secrets.

Two members of the dinner party revealed that they were having an affair.

Thanks in advance!

What the hell is that movie?

Been trying to identify a movie that I wanted to add to my netflix but for the life of me I can't come up with the title. It's about a woman that, in an attempt to destroy the assassin's guide, hires that same assassin's guide to kill the head of the assassin's guide. It's is a comedy and put's me in mind of The Great Race. The film seems to have been set in the 1920's or 1930's.

To add insult I can picture the male lead in my head perfectly but I've never known the actor's name.

Any help would be appreciated.

The Assassination Bureau?

whats this film called

whats this film called ?
its a very old film.

there are three children, one girl and two boys which get adopted to parents who originally wanted a baby but they were the only ones left and they have a great dane. and in the end the parents gradually love them and theres a big thunder storm that breaks out and they all get into the same bed.

name this martial art movie...

Watched a movie trailer a while ago, it was a martial arts movie, I didn't recognize the name of the actor in it, it looked like it had spectacular stunts, one scene he drove his motorcycle either up or through a tall wire fence.
I'm 99% positive the movie title was only one word, and it had to have come out in the last 3 years or so, I keep thinking it's Fearless but it was not a Jet Li film, like I said it was a non-mainstream martial arts actor.
If anyone has any idea of what the name of this movie is, I would be eternally grateful!
Thanks, Carrie

Ok now this is bother me and my roomates, cant seem to find it on google or IMDB because of lack of information

From what I remember:

-Its a comedy movie
-Its in the 90's
-Starts off where a guy loses his job (or something like that) then had a really bad day
-He gets chased by guys with machines guns i think in there too
-I believe the movie ends at a a dock of some sort

The main character was a middle age guy, maybe with glasses, i did recognize the actor from other things but I cant remember who it was.

Not all my facts may be 100% correct but if u could help me guess this movie it would be appreciated

That might be 'Falling Down', starring Michael Douglas.
