Yeah.
I wish he would put more into the British Industry though. He and his brother own Elstree, but don't do much other than hire it out to the Majors. That's one of the many small criticisms I can throw around when it's been a while since I saw Blade Runner or Alien.
Saying that Gladiator's gotta be up there too. I *must* get that on DVD. There a Director's Cut of that? If so, is it worth getting over the theactrical cut?

Seeing as it won Best Picture, I can't imagine some Director's Cut actually being better. That's like the Director's Cut of AMADEUS that came out years ago - What? The first version didn't win enough Oscars as it was?
Scott is getting too addicted to going back and recutting his films, just to make more money from another DVD. He had legitimate reasons for films like Blade Runner & Legend, but the other films are just stunts for publicity.

The theatrical cut IS the director's cut. That's what Scott says himself. There is an extended edition, which is nice to see all the deleted scenes you saw on the 2-disc edition on its rightful place. So it's mainly longer, but the theatrical/director's cut is better.
Same with American Gangster. I saw the Extended Edition first and thought it was tad boring plus it had a useless ending. The theatrical is much better and I think Scott concurs.
That narration...is right. Harrison Ford is a great actor in many ways, but performing a monologue just isn't him, at least when it is so dereft of any personality.
Director's Cut is better than the original I reckon. I haven't actually watched the Final Cut wholeheartedly yet so I cannot compare. More Blade Runner though, I have no problem with that.
You don't know the story about the narration then. That must have been one of Harrison's weirdest experiences ever. Nobody ever wanted the narration except for the studio. By the time they got around to doing that it was jusy ordered by the studio and when Harrison showed up at the recording studio there was a complete unknown recordist, no director, none of the writers or anyone there. Grumpily the guy gave Harrison his lines and Ford just delivered it in a roundabout way... So when no one makes an effort to make the narration work... what do you expect.
Interestingly enough, the Workprint (on the 5-disc edition) has a little bit of narration during Batty's death scene at the end. That was pretty interesting and well done. Well written and well delivered by Ford. If they ever should have done the narration properly, that would have been the way to go.
Yeah I noticed the Zhora bit, I haven't noticed the changes in the score though; more piano in the Workprint than I remember being in the Final Cut.
Apparently Ridley Scott mentioned he would be interested in a sequel. I haven't read the follow up novels, but I had a little wiki-look at them and I'm not too convinced by them. Looks like bad fan fiction but that might just be wiki's take. Nothong on Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep anyway.
