Batman vs. The Champion

Started by psycho gundam3 pages

i know you like him, and thats fine but don't make false statements.
consider how much material is out for batman, opposed to how little is out for the champion. the hand book is a perfect source for finding info on him. he did totally incapacitate mantis with a half nelson/leg body lock. i know that is not enough but mantis is one of the best fighters in comics(supposedly). there is other stuff out there but i dont want to waste energy on this. champion is the better combatant

Based on your supposition that you can't back up with on panel evidence. 🙂

Kthxbai.

And I could shove scans down your throat of Batman making Champion look like a paraplegic in terms of fighting, but I'm feeling lazy right now.

In the Superman scan, Batman is amped up by an alien. The rest of the scans are legit. Batkick ftw.

um....impressing you is not important you know, the handbook entry states that he has had over 50 thousand bouts and all were ko's.
even if that is old news, that is plenty more fights than all of the bat family put together. experience counts for something if not everything

Yes, this is exactly the debate I was thinking about when I started this thread. I tend to think that universal level fighting experience trumps Earth level fighting experience (hence I am one that says Mantis over Batman), and I am likely to say Champion. But then you have Champion loosing to She-Hulk and always fighting like he uses Duke of Hazzard style...

Batkick ftw!

Yes, I've seen those. So maybe the issue is that Marvel has done a bad job handling the Champion character. They gave him this interesting history as the oldest person in the universe that has dedicated his life to fighting, and yet even the oldest dude who dedicated his life to jogging around (runner) and many others seem to be better than him.

Just go with it. I can't be a Hulk fanboy since WW Hulk ended. I'm a Batman fanboy now! 😛

You forgot the Grodd knockout...

The thing with Batman is that I like him as a character, the backstory, the gritty detective, the dark knight thing...

But when he basically becomes a galactic level martial artist mixed with Dr. Doom brains it kind of takes away from his essence to me. But they had to do that so he could hang and have a place in the D.C. heroes pantheon (Justice League).

I guess when I want to read the Batman that I like I'll just have to pick up a good old Moon Knight comic...

Speculation doesn't count for shit.

Being beaten by She Hulk doesn't help his case.

Yeah took out mantis with extreme ease and would have killed her if it wasnt for SS, but he still manages to get beaten by somebody who was breifly trained by Gamora, that PIS. Champion wins. Experience doesnt count for everything but in this case I think it does because if he can take out mantis like that and in order to do its nit just power but speed as well. Champion has been able to use his strength to throw off earths mighteist bricks im pretty sure he could channel his power and make himself so durable that Batman couldnt hurt him. The problem is that Champion has never been without his superstrength so we dont know how good he is but I think billions of years of experience, cosmic durability and being able to take out Mantis with ease counts for something.

Furthermore Batman was able to kick Spectre because Spectre allowed Batman to see him....apparently.

Batman didnt hurt the Hulk.

Why is Batman able to hurt Grundy and Superman when he almoist crippled himself trying to punch Superman?

Furthermore none of those people he is fighting are MA experts, if Solomon Grundy for example knew martial arts that fight with Batman would have ended up with Batman dead. Eventhough Champion does not have his strength in this thread hes not going to allow himself to get hit like Grundy and its going to be extremely difficult for Batman to hurt somebody with Champions training and durability.

Absolutely nothing is said about durability here. Champion wins, and easily at that.

oops edit again..sorry

It does not have to make sense he is the goddamn batman that's reason enough I guess.

Basically, Champion is like a human in terms of durability. He just has his fighting expertise and appropriate levels of strength, agility, durability etc for human scale.

not true at all. I hate that Spectre scan, and I have a feeling every single person on this forum who's used it hasn't actually read the comic.

The very next page, the Spectre laughs at Batman and tells him he did that to make Batman feel better. Batman looks shocked he even managed to hit the Spectre. Then the Spectre, not at all fazed, informs him there is no way Bats can possibly stop him.

it's idiotic to ever use that scan, except if your intention is to show that the Spectre is an *******.

Yeah well he should still win. He was still qucik enough to get Mantis into a finishing move almost immeditley..

I actually agree that Champion should win here. I was just clarifying the conditions of the battle. (Mantis would win too).
