It's been in Rianna's backstory for a long time that Rand essentially rescued her on Bespin after all of that chaos, and that he'd been keeping an eye on her as someone who would likely fall to the Dark Side.

Jordan just took that and combined it with the hatred between the two that developed in-game and turned it into this, I think.

More or less! It was certainly a join to run. Might be the last Rianna game for awhile, until more people have caught up.
