Someone should tell JQ to read Ultimate Spider-Man.

Actually, in one of the interviews I read, he mentions Ultimate Spidey, and uses the brief stint with Kitty Pryde as an example of great romantic drama that doesn't let the main relationship with MJ stagnate.

I somewhat agree with him, actually. Mephisto's a helluva random plot device to throw into it, but the basis of Pete's character is, unfortunately or fortunately depending on your view, suffering and responsibility. This move muddies the waters for Pete in an unforeseen way, and gives him yet another burden to bear. But it also opens the door to new kinds of stories.

People dislike change. I know. Sometimes their misgivings are justified, sometimes they aren't. But I'm generally not as opposed to it as most, even if I end up being wrong this time.

In the long run this may be better, I mean yes this story will probaly start off with a way of making Spider-man depressed for a bit, but then we can have him "return to the light" as it were with new and interesting stories with new love interests etc etc, or we could just have a cool story where he somehow remembers his love for MJ and tries to win her back while she remembers nothing etc etc.

we should get lose of lois lane too 😂

seiously what a piece of crap. laterly there are messing up
with peters girls...gwen bitching with the goblin and now
losing mj like this.

damn it man, how old is may 123? if he is really eager to save her why doesnt he find a way to make her immortal. this isnt right.

you can still make good stories without get rid of mj......

i buckled and read the spoilers. 😐 not exactly what i was expecting. like at all...

i need to read this now.

Nah , Mephisto is probably like 'Captain Marvel' and they need to re-use him so often or lose him.

I won't say I saw this coming, but it makes a lot of sense.

Joe Q is on record many times for saying that marrying Pete to MJ killed off a lot of the drama that can come about with an active and variable love life for a hero. But it wasn't something he could change, he said, because it wouldn't be in character for Pete...

...but he found a way around that. So Pete doesn't look evil for leaving MJ for some arbitrary reason, and Quesada gets his chance to add some variance to Pete's romantic interests (down the road, of course).

I suppose we'll find out next Gwen Stacy was really alive all this time, just like Norman Osborn. 🙄

While they're at it, let's have Sue leave Reed for Namor at last, to make their lives more 'variable.' How about it, Joe?

Just another four years until Marvel's 50th Anniversary. A massive reboot to ground zero is coming anyway. Spidey & MJ will be back together.

Well, so long as they don't kill off MJ I'm happy.

Oh, and also (I asked this in the other One More Day thread but no one knew the answer), anyone figured out who the girl was? Someone from some other title maybe?

Change is fine but this is change for the sake of change (and sales). It comes off as forced which is why many won't like it. Plus the premise is pretty stupid to begin with.

And this is why I dropped 616 Spider-man last year...

I don't even get why Peter would consider this deal anyway. Does he think May will live forever or something?

Exactly. He basically traded his love for MJ (which would've lasted pretty much forever) for Aunt May to live a few more years.

Good choice Peter... 🙄

um, I'm sorry, but is this not literally the exact same plot that Mark Waid used in the Flash, only substituting Wally for Peter and Neron for Mephisto?

Peter asked Mephisto that question and his response was
"Oh your not ready for the answer to that question, trust me. Thats for another time".

Peter didnt even consider it, it was MJ that wanted to consider it.

Gwen's and Osborn's daughter or Petes and Gwen's.

Just curious, does that mean that you don't believe me? That you don't believe MJ would do that? Or a simple spam?

Anyhow, just bringing up proof:
