STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- The Hunter

It just seems to be zipping by on its merry way.

Hmmm, okay, though Rylis will wait until it's out of sight. Something tells me our speeder is likely acting as an excellent beacon...

The smoking engine might be a bit of a giveaway, though a parked landspeeder on the outskirts of the Dune Sea is no less unordinary.

Yeah, well...

What direction is the other speeder coming from? And does Rylis have any sort of binoculars or anything with her? She'd like a closer look if possible...

Snith might, but he's kinda busy...

A Tusken Raider comes flying out the hatch and rolls a ways down the dune before staggering to its feet. Snith emerges a moment later, raising his pulse cannon and injecting the Tusken with its deadly energy. It topples over.

"What, not going to help?" Snith asks.

"There's a speeder out there. And if I can see it, then they can surely see us." Rylis replies. "Got any binoculars so I can get a closer look?"

Snith casts a cautious glance back at the hatch, then drops his pulse cannon.

"A lot of help you're being," he snides, patting about in his coat for the macrobinoculars. Eventually he passes them off to you...

... by which point the landspeeder is far enough that you cannot distinguish who is inside.

"Too bad, so sad," Snith says, hoisting up his cannon and heading back into the hatch.

It doesn't take long for Snith to finish off the Tuskens inhabiting the dune. It seems to have been some sort of scouting outpost for the mining companies, about four thousand years ago. In the years since, the Tuskens have been using it to defend their holy grounds from trespassers, using the outpost as a sniper roost.

There were about six Sand People inhabiting the place, so there is a healthy supply of water and food. Snith says that it may take him some time to jury-rig the engine into something functional, after those energy-encased bullets the Tuskens put into it.

The outpost is a square room, with the entrance hatch against the south wall. Sniper slots are on all sides. A battered old computer terminal sits unused in a corner, and a massive wardrobe in another.

Rylis has a Fix-it score of 10, would she be able to help in trying to get that engine working again?

Your help with the engine is appreciated and shaves a few hours off, but more or less you're stuck here until Snith gets it working.

"Why don't you go check the computer? See if they've got anything useful on there..." Snith says, shortly before shocking himself on a raw wire and jumping about like an idiot. "Mother of the Emperor's...!"

"Anything useful. That's so very specific; anything in particular or do you want me to just go through everything on there?"

"Yes."

"Sure. Fine. Whatever."

Rylis will go and poke through the computer files, then, I suppose...

The dumb thing takes a few tries to turn on. Surprisingly well built contraption, the computer turns on after so much disuse.

Not terribly much on here but databank entries, holographic logs entered by whoever the scouts were before the Tuskens took over the outpost. You can read the contents without watching the video feed, scrolling through the text. Very uninteresting stuff...

... except for one entry, due to two words popping out at you. They are "Nobog Corporation" and "Darth."

Rylis is going to take a look at that entry...see what it says.

(and that's three words, genius)

(Brawl melted my brain after 12 hours of playing.)

The entry begins with the hologram of a weathered looking young man, wearing cobbled pieces of armor and leaning on a crutch. He lists times and dates indicating that this recording was made roughly 2500 years ago. The weather was, unsurprisingly, arid and bright. His name and age are of no interest to you.

Then, the report on the current situation with the Tusken Raiders. The settlers, particularly those in Mos Eisley, were in constant fear of attack by the Sand People during this time, according to the scout. Hence the need for the outpost, to give warning to Mos Eisley and smaller settlements of the area. The scout says that he had previously predicted that his outpost would be overrun within the month.

But things have calmed down. The Tuskens are no longer being incited to attack the settlers by this deranged old man calling himself Darth Luunis. Apparently the strange old man had some hold over the Tusken Raiders, using some sort of ancient artifact... the scout doesn't know much about it, just that this Darth character had finally been slain by a Jedi mercenary that had come to negotiate with the Sand People.

The Nobog Corporation comes up when the scout mentions the mining operations on Tatooine... which are a joke, in retrospect, Rylis. You and everyone else finally know as fact that Tatooine is a useless ball of dirt. In any case, the Nobog Corporation was running things at the time and laid claim to the modified sand crawler that the insane Sith had been using as his 'battleship.' This included the artifact, apparently. However, the Hutts also laid claim to it. The remainder of the tribal war would be carried out as a legal matter.

The scout expresses his thankfulness that the tribal war is over for the moment, and that he can return home as the outpost serves no further use.

(excuses, excuses...)

Is there a way to save that to show Snith later, or print a transcript, or something?

If so, Rylis will do so. And then continue poking about for useful things - namely anything about that artifact, or Darth Luunis, or the Nobog Corporation's operations on Tatooine.

You could probably upload it to something without a problem. Consider it done.

As for searching... well, this computer seems to be used for little other than storage. No connection to the HoloNet, that's for sure. None of the other transcripts mention anything other than movements of the Tusken Raiders and results of minor conflicts.

Darth Luunis is again described in one as being a crazy old man who always wears black and is surprisingly lethal with a red lightsaber. But that is all.

And something tells me that any info on that is going to be very out of date and thus not of much use...

Okay, Rylis is going to go and tell Snith what she found.

Snith is underneath the engine of the speeder when you mention the artifact and Darth Luunis. The mention causes him to bash his head as he comes up, which in turn causes him to curl up as he grabs his head in anguish.

"Oh... how peculiar," is all he has to say at first, but you suspect that there is more.

"And that's all you have to say? You know something about this."
