STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Trials

His days as a vigilante are done. Friste no longer seeks justice on his own terms. Now he actively causes chaos and breaks as many laws as he can in the course of his work.

Most of your memories consist of going through training with him. Of your clan of Jedi hopefuls, you two were the top. It was no wonder you became rivals.

Well from what I've gathered about Friste now. He is boastful, prideful, and arrogant. I don't know how much of that has changed since he was a Jedi, but something else I noticed is that in his bio from the archives and here he doesn't seem to be a very big team player either.

Those qualities haven't changed; he's still an arrogant bastard, though now more cruel and malicious than ever.

Most of Friste's vigilante work was solo, yes.

Generally when people work solo like that it is because they think they have something to prove. Could the same be said about Tem?

Perhaps.

It could also be that he is very distrusting of other people.

Could be.

Does Xavier have an inkling of a plan in mind for the distrustful soloist formerly known as Friste Tem?

The inkling is to find some reason to possibly turn him his attention on the Pirate Lord by making him paranoid against Svid.

You might want to suss more about their relationship as Pirate Lord and Pirate Leader before trying to cause in-fighting.

When he gets the chance, Trax also expresses another concern. Once you free the slaves and take the armory, where then? Will you attack the bridge?

Good point Xavier will try and find more info on how their relationship works.

As to where they will attack my two choices were the bridge or the barracks.

If we take the bridge then we get the ship's defenses for ourselves. If we take the barracks then the pirate lord will no men to work with. Although I do like taking the bridge first. Loola is supposed to be neat the bridge, which would make it easier for Xavier to break off and go get her. So right now the plan shall be to attack the bridge.

Trax is unable to obtain the schematics, but he does know the route you would have to take through the ship to reach the bridge.

And then there are the bridge defenses...

Yeah we are gonna have to know what they are.

They aren't terribly complicated, but they certainly are things worth keeping in mind.

1) The Blast Doors. Each entrance to the Bridge has a blast-proof door that is only operable from the inside of the bridge. There are three entrances. It might be too thick for your lightsaber to do much good, but you don't know. If you can, it will likely take forever, and having all your slaves bottlenecked at one entrance will harm your assault.

2) The Energy Dissipation Fields. Certain sections of the bridge have fields that can be activated in the event that someone boards the ship and assaults the bridge... hmm. They will be a pain in the ass if pirates keep hiding behind them, but there's not much you can do about them as they individually activated by the pirates. Very good (and frustrating) cover.

3) The Anti-personnel Cannons. Cannons that resemble satellite dishes that are maintained by a gunner on the bridge. The gunner labels targets using the ship's computer, then lets the automated weapons loose! Heavy Weapons, no doubt.

Trax is not sure if these defenses are anywhere else in the ship.

Hmm the are two options. Find a way around each and everyone of the defenses or try and bypass them all together. Xavier thinks it would be best to try and discover options for both.

Maybe a way to get around them all is to simply have Xavier create a door through the wall into the bridge from some adjacent room. For some reason though I do not think that one will be feasible.

The other way I was thinking of getting by them all together is for Xavier to find like a vent or something that leads directly into the Bridge and have Xavier deactivate everything from the inside.

As to how he would get by all the defenses themselves. The blast doors are hard, but perhaps like Han did on Endor we could manually open it from the outside. If we can find someone tech savvy enough. Which Xavier does have a few marks in Fix-It.

As for the Energy Dissipation fields are these like full walls of shields, or like small barricade things were they can pop out and shoot. But as to dealing with them. The only thing I could think of is cutting the power to them somehow. Perhaps Cabas could disable them like Obi-Wan did in a New Hope except with the fields.

As to the gunner if all the bridge turrets are operated from one location then if we sabotaged it before hand they would be useless.

Deactivating everything is unfeasible. The controls to the blast doors and the automated cannons are located with the rest of the controls. Being less-than-ordinary with technical skills, you wouldn't be able to locate them before the pirates blast you into oblivion.

The energy dissipation fields are small barriers from which they can pop out and shoot. They are operated individually from wall panels, and so would not be shut down if you somehow pulled off the override. Cutting power to them would have to be one at a time, which is impractical in the midst of battle.

The blast doors are probably the easiest problem to bypass. Trax is excellent with technical gumf, and your lightsaber can solve the problem. That's two entrances down, one to go. The more entrances you get open, the better.

Perhaps Cabas could work on getting the other one open. At some point he is going to have to come in on this.

There is no doubt you will have to consult with him and let him know what has been planned. As for whether or not he goes with your plan is up to him, being your mentor.

Very true.

You do have to wonder what it is he is doing this entire time. This is the least helpful he has been in... forever, really. Normally he is spearheading missions like these, not taking the backseat and letting you do all the work.

Yeah that is true. Perhaps it would be nice to have a talk with Cabas before I go on any further.
