I really like the protagonists of Samurai Deeper Kyo (manga version). Pretty much all of them... Kyo, Benitora, Sasuke, Yukimura, the Four Emperors...it's unusual, because in most anime, there's one or two characters who I really like, and I can take or leave the rest of the cast.

Vicious from Cowboy Bebop : The once smiling partner of Spike...his betraying& Julia's changed him forever. "i believe in NOTHING"..🙂 brilliant.

Able Nightroad (perhaps not the most original character but I still find him fun)

Yuki Nagato (the anime version of my favorite character archetype)

Spike Spiegel (kicks ass without special powers or anything)

Edward Elric (maybe a bit emo but never to the sickening point of some characters)

Light Yagami (IMO one of the greatest villains in any media)

Kyon (makes apathy look fun)

Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky IV (awesome in too many ways to count)

Kenshin Himura (don't really know why but he does kick ass)

Alucard (blurs the line between antihero and vicious psychopath)

Zaraki Kenpachi (the line "my name is Zaraki Kenpachi, I'm going to kill you" pretty much sold me)

Aizen (brilliant villain evil in ways that usually get played down in favor of physical violence)

Jin and Mugen (awesome group dynamic + mass murder + humor)
