Uh..Duke Nukem Forever?

Besides the visuals not looking as good the PC, As stated above and the load times apparantly for some folks altho not really bothering me.

Ok, I wasn't sure if it were bad controls and gameplay.

I like the visuals on the pc and the load times don't bother me. Reason I asked is I just spent a pretty penny on it and if there was something I didn't know about I wanted to find out before I bought it so I could possibly get it cheaper.

Of course it won't be as good as the PC version though, that's a given. More hardware potential, better aiming, and mods. I didn't think it would be "terrible" though.

I know Duke Forever was more made for the PC but you'd think Gearbox would've at least tried to make the console versions more like it

especally since they can run things Bioshock, Portal 2 pretty good

this tv show that i usually watch that reviews games they did both versions PC & 360, they pretty much say the PC version runs smoother besides some depth of field effects and they timed each versions level load times 6 secs for the PC and 35 to 40 secs for 360 (altho i found it lower for some other levels)

and one of the hosts even say he laughed more in this game then any other game this year.

True, I think they should make games as good as possible. But for modern shooters the PC has too many advantages. I love the Playstation Duke more than any other because of the extra content and music. Back in those days it was more reflex based and less aiming based. So it didn't matter. But current shooters are aiming based and slower moving. PC also has the moding ability.

Holy cow, 40 seconds?!

I think it also depended on how much stuff was in the levels too

level load times aside, i even think the levels are more fun then Call of duty.

Is that an accomplishment? Lol.

From what I read the problems with the 360 DNF is mostly all technical problems.

From screen tearing, bad graphics, laggy aiming, load times, and other stuff. It shows that 360 was programmed very well and nobody care about it. That's bad.

I'm not playing this because I'm not paying 50-60 bucks for the PC version when I know this game will be 10 bucks in 6 months on Steam. As well, I'm under the agreement that we have made huge steps in game design that a game that wants to be old school should still follow good design when developers make the game.

For instance, Super Meat Boy plays like an old school game. It's brutally tough but super fast reload times, a cool feature where they show you the amount of deaths that happen and other stuff.

Basically, I'm saying is that developers can make an old school game that's made in 2011 without it feeling like its a modern shooter.

Good points. They can improve, but I'm glad they released it.

I just got back into gaming in the modern area, and Twisted Metal is coming out. I agree with waiting and paying 10 bucks on it though. I did get the BOS edition, because the game does seem solid for PC and it is Duke. It is best to get the most bang for your buck though.

So how far are you into the game now?

I remember playing the Playstation Duke after playing the PC one for months, that one level in that one episode for just that one version "Plug and Play" how it had the pigs dressed up in pink dresses

speaking of the pigs they're badass in this new game.

It is being sent to me. I'm in the US. 😛

I'll put a full objective review here when I've played all of it.

I told you this game would suck. Even if Duke was the father of shooters, FPS games that success this game would incorperate better advance game mechanics over the years than this one a game that was made 12 years ago.

You might as well have a Duke reboot.

No, Duke isn't. By any means.

Depends on what you mean by shooters. Hell Galaga was a shooter.

Duke Nukem was first out in 91, so it is an oooold game. But there are old arcade shooters that were out before that.

With 3d shooters, Doom is the Ur example. Duke just codified it and modernized it.

And then along came Quake 1 and knock it up another notch.

Duke competed with Quake. Quake had a superior engine but Duke won over on the personality, design, weapons, etc.

Quake made the demand for better engines and processing power.

There was also a game that come out before Duke 3D that set the trend with some idea's

Star Wars: Dark Forces with its multiple floors & to look up and down.

True it did have the floors. Duke brought in the underwater and flying navigation and free exploring, humor, and manipulating switches, etc.

It put many things together really well I guess is the best way to say it.

Meh, Duke is easily the most unlikeable protagonist n gaming. I'm at the level where I have to leave chicks to die or shoot them from alien capture pods and he's cracking jokes.

He's just a jerkhole.

Well you get kill the women in Duke 3D too only becasue they're saying 'Kill me'

also if thats the level in the alien Hive not like he can save them they've been pregnated by the aliens.

He's still a retarded man baby douche hole. He likes chicks, but wont to save them if there kidnapped by aliens and you'd think he'd have a anti alien baby nullifyer to kill the baby inside the women.

You just love to hate him don't you? 😉

That joke did seem oddly placed to some though when he says, "It looks like you're...f'ed."
