STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Brothers

Is Melkor in position to get to the guns defending the gate?

The heavy turrets, you mean? You would have to go through the gate and up the stairs to get to them. Perhaps not something Esgabath should go alone, especially unarmed as he currently is.

Melkor jumps for the pistol, first, then.

Does he know that Arvus is heavy weapon expert who would be useful against big guns?

Melkor snatches up his pistol as the shots start flying...

Let us look at the situation.

The Erengardian soldiers atop the wall are armed with the old-fashioned lever-charge rifles that I described earlier in the game (they take four frames to fire but have a damage of 14). They have a skill of 7. The turrets are manned by a soldier each, sporting heavy cannons at a Heavy Weapons skill of 7. They are all commanded by a single officer on the walls, armed with a pistol.

The mid-level of the walls have slots, through which the Erengardians can safely fire their rifles without being terribly exposed.

Amongst your own troopers, you have the Stormtroopers (skill 6) and the Turncoat Soldiers (skill 7). However, their marksmanship is boosted by the Imperial blaster rifles (+2 to hit, damage 11) that you have been given, due to burstfire.

Commander Skall and Janus Pivane are pistoling it and leading a charge on the walls. You do not see Arvus anywhere.

What does Melkor want to do? The blasters are not currently focused on him...

There is no way to sneak beyond the gate?

The gate is open and attention is not on Melkor as of this moment...

Excellent, Melkor will go for it! Would some Stormtroopers be able to follow?

The stormtroopers are an action distant from Melkor; if he moves through the gate, he will be doing so alone at this point.

Let go for it while others are distracted!

Okay then.

The first thing that happens a whistling sound as a rail charge flies through the air and collides with one of the heavy turrets on the wall. It rips it apart. Melkor finds the sound to be very familiar...

Melkor goes running through the opening gate, while the Officer spends his action making sure that the gate then closes. Melkor ducks through just in time. The stairs up are on your right.

Janus and Skall lead the stormtroopers and turncoats up to the base of the wall. Janus, wielding a light pistol designed for the Pivane family, shoots down a pair of soldiers with a pair of 10s. Skall does the same with a heavy pistol and a pair of 12s.

Casualties are inflicted on both sides, with the remaining turret reinforcing the resistance against your men. The battle is joined!

Main Gate is CLOSED

I need to get to top of the walls to open the gates?

That seems to be where the switches are for operating the gate.

The Officer is standing next to them. He has noticed Melkor and is aiming his pistol in your direction...

Melkor will try to get on top, aiming for the Officer.

Since Melkor uses a light pistol, did you want to take a double-shot at the Officer? It inflicts a -2 penalty but you get to fire twice.

Yes, go for it!

Another rail charge flies in and obliterates the remaining turret before it can fire again, followed by another that strikes the midsection of the wall, blowing open some of the gunnery slots to expose the soldiers inside.

Melkor runs up and engages in a shooting match with the Officer! Melkor employs a double-shot with his royal pistol, hitting for 7 damage on his first shot and missing the second. The Officer misses outright. Moving up the wall while shooting takes four frames for Melkor, though.

Janus completely flakes his attack on the midlevel, shooting at the gunnery slots, but Commander Skall takes better aim and brings down two targets. Casualties are light this turn.

Main Gate is CLOSED

Melkor will continue going up. I am assuming that soldiers on top are too busy to all focus on him?

Indeed. But the Officer stands between you and that switch for the gate.

Melkor will take another two shots at him. Remind me, how much Fortune he has left?

Melkor has six Fortune points to use, as he has used none of them.
