STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Brothers

Einar joins you, and the two of you tumble back into the Maze.

At a few points, you think you're going to catch him. You take shots at his retreating figure as you run, but your lasers only catch on the hedges about him as he ducks. Janus' dodging is slowing him and at one point you think you've hit him. You begin to find a light trail of blood dripped upon the snow and stone below your feet.

Finally, when you have closed enough to get a decent shot on this traitor that was your friend, this murderer that poisoned your mother... he weaves through another gap in the Maze.

He has gone out through the Gate, to the forbidden mountain trail.

"Melkor!" Einar shouts, grabbing your shoulder. "Let him go!"

Janus' bloody footprints stain the snow, trailing up into the mountains.

"Let him go?! So you do not even care about avenging our mother, brother?!"

"That mountain path will do it for us," Einar says. "The assassin may have scaled the mountainside, but Janus runs blindly onto the trail. None have done so since the Jedi did, and only they were ever capable."

Einar looks past you, to the blood trail dotting the ground.

"He won't be coming out of there."

"How are you so sure he does not have an escape plan?"

In the near distance, you hear a blood-curdling, horrendous scream.

"I think we're done here," Einar says, turning to leave.

Melkor grins, trying to listen for more screams. It seems that Janus got the fate that he deserved. But then he returns to present situation... which is difficult."

"Well, I understand that the battle is still under way..."

"Then it must be stopped!" Einar shouts at you. "You've brought the Empire to our homeworld. Get rid of them!"

"Well, we need to have communication with the Imperial fleet, then."

"Then make the call," Einar says, stomping away into the labyrinth to get back to the palace. "You have put our people in grave danger with your rash actions, brother. And for no gain. Father will certainly exile you. If he does not, I will."

Janus Pivane, your former friend and mentor, stops screaming and falls quiet. You never find out what happened to him. Those trails are forbidden.

Back at the Palace after navigating your way out of the maze, you have a very important call to make. The Imperials have not attacked yet, though their AT-ATs have resisted everything that has been thrown at them so far.

Should they retaliate, it could be disastrous for Maurenburg.

Melkor is not that good right now, but he will make that call....

Could you remind me what was the official pretext of Imperials coming to Erengard?

The Imperial invasion is entirely a diversion so that you could usurp the throne with your small contingent of forces. Were it to fail, the Imperials would invade for real and burn Maurenburg to the ground.

Okay, who is answering the call....

I assume that Melkor at this point is effectively hostage? He feels like an total idiot, being played by Janus. He would prefer not to see Erengard burned because of this.

Grand Moff Tarkin will be accepting your call...

"Melkor," Tarkin says, as gaunt and imposing as ever. "Have you succeeded in removing Erengard's throne?"

Melkor becomes very pale.

"Grand Moff, due to new circumstances I would like to request the cancellation of Imperial operation on Erengard."

"What? And leave Erengard a viable threat to the stability of the Empire? What has come over you?"

"Well, it appears that our ally, Janus, was a traitor who tried to kill me. Perhaps we should reconsider this operation in light of new cirumstances...."

"Irrelevant!" Tarkin exclaims. "If Erengard does not ally itself with the Empire now, then it will burn."

Is there Melkor`s father around to talk to? If not, he will tell at least Einar that they need to offer something to Tarkin in order for Empire not to attack Erengard.

Melkor still feels very unwell....

You are returning to the Palace, then. With the lightning quick purpose of your attack removed, your assault is labeled a failure. Einar has had the stormtroopers executed before your return, lined up and shot in the courtyard. The last of the traitors is among them, martyrs for the Empire's will on Erengard.

Einar has gone to your father's safe room; no longer in any condition to wage war, having put that mantle on his warrior son, Mauren retreated to its safety. Einar is holding counsel with him when you enter.

"My son returns a traitor," Mauren says to you.

"Maybe I misinterpreted some things concerning Mother`s death, but it was Einar who tried to kill during hunting trip..." Melkor speaks solemnly, after regaining some compusure.

"And killing that Stormtroopers was a very foolish move. You cannot win againt Empire. Do you think that I want to see the end of Erengard?"
