The explosion took the planet out of orbit and into the path of a star, where the explosion continued.

This whole time John and J'onn hung out in outer space (note the scan shows them not being anywhere near the star, so they didn't survive the full blast of the explosion, only the initial part of the explosion).

So we'll just disregard the fact that they were both on the planet when it began exploding, disregard the fact that we never saw them 'hanging in space' until after the explosion(s), and disregard the fact that afterwards, they seem to be amidst a bunch of rubble?

Okie dokie. 🙂

Look again at the scans you posted.
Initial explosion, caption says that explosion was "tossing him through the air". The blast continues to rock the planet.

Next scan:
J'onn is standing there, you see him get tossed into the air and the GL shield breaks. You see a big chunk of rock by him.

Next scan:
Explosion continues to destroy the planet. Nowhere on the scan does it show John Steward or J'onn. The only thing we have at this point is that they were tossed into the air.

Next scan:

Planet is pushed through space from the explosion, nowhere do we see either John or J'onn.

Next scan:

Planet hits the sun, causing sun to be engulfed in chain reaction.

Last scan:
We see the sun way way off in the distance blowing up. You see rocks in the current location. Amongst those rocks is John Stewart. J'onn flies up.

Nowhere in any of those scans does it show either J'onn or John Stewart anywhere even remotely close to the sun. The initial explosion hurled them away before it got worse.

Show me again where we see them leaving the planet, and 'hanging in space'...

I must have missed that one. 🙂

Look again at the scan. Can you honestly tell me that they are in the midst of that star exploding?

Since there is nothing showing them leaving the planet?

Yes. 🙂

Right here it says it tosses him through the air. We see him shot upwards, then the next panel doesn't show him there at all. Meaning he got blasted into the upper atmosphere.

Yes...

We see him get tossed at least a few hundred feet in the air, [at the most], so of course this means he was blown into the upper atmosphere! 🙂

Ok - so you're saying that John and J'onn were both in the middle of the blast where the sun blew up? So it's unlikely that they get blown into the atmosphere from a planetary explosion, but an entire sun exploding can blow them 90 million miles away near instantly? That doesn't make sense.

[according to what we actually saw happen, of course].

Yes.

Especially when you consider the fact that the planet didn't 'explode', until it made contact with the Star. 🙂

Probably because that's not what I said. 🙂

The entire planet blew up, is it that big of a stretch to think that he is blown into space? Look at the final scan, it clearly shows the sun being very far away. If he was still on the planet it would have shown him surrounded by fire, but it didn't. Instead it showed him millions of miles away, sitting on a rock, looking at the explosion. Nowhere in the scans does it show him flying to that rock.

Therefore logically he got blown into space when the initial explosion occurred, and as the planet hurled towards the sun and blew up he sat there and watched.

Ok so then show me anywhere that shows either of them being surrounded by fire. Last time I checked, J'onn didn't like fire, so being on the surface of a sun might be a little uncomfortable, especially after the GL shield shattered during the planetary level explosion.

Full of personal opinion -- not worth breaking down to answer. 🙂

Ok I'll agree to disagree with you on this, I can live with that.

Ahh,
Because seeing them surrounded by fire would make all the difference, eh?
