Favorite City you NEVER been to!

Nah, I really don't need to relax, I'm perfectly relaxed. Though I think some among you either ought to admit defeat outright, or just not try and debate. ''But this is the OTF is not an excuse'' if I was involved in a debate with someone on the bus, I would not stop them and say ''hang on just one minute, we should be doing this in a more purpose built place, perhaps the house of commons?''

well, whats to debate?

Whether saying your favourite city you've never been to is 'anywhere in the UK', is a fair statement given the diversity of the country, and the obvious rose tinted view of the poster.

so if I say to you I wanna visit the UK solely to visit London, whats your response?

Have you ever been here?

No, isn't that the point of the thread? No one understands why I love the UK so much even though I've never been there, so I'm not gonna waste my time explaining. 😕

Then do it, but don't say you love it till you've been there.

I really would like to know, is it the the red phone boxes, or the Beefeaters, or the Beatles, or maybe even princess Di?

I will say its safe to assume I will enjoy my visit.

Why? There are plenty of people who loathe and detest London, why wouldn't you be one of them?

It's too cold...let's all share some nice hot cocoa and sit by the fire place.

(Let's just relax)

😊

My point is look how up tight your getting for no real reason. 🙄

I thought I'd already explained that there was a reason?

I would have been happy with just posting 'Hahahahaha', but people wanted to know what I found funny, then still acted like it was perfectly appropriate, to lump a whole country into one easily accessible stereotype.

It's none of that- or anything you can imagine. As I said- you wouldn't understand, so forget it.

Given that I live in the country you're talking about, I should hope I would.

Just to clarify, it is the country you're in love with and not something, or someone that's here?

Paris, Sydney or Rome.

I would say Venice but I've already been once, and loved it. I'm planning on going back someday.

I know you do, but you still wouldn't.

And it's the country, not something and not someone.

Sydney, Australia.

So you're in love with the country and solely the country, it doesn't have to do with association, nostalgia, something or someone? If the answer's no to all those, then I find it very hard to believe that I wouldn't understand.

It's no to all of those. But I'm not about to explain, so let's just pretend that I've told you and you understand, Capisce?

Fair enough, I'm not going to pretend that I'm not curious, but OK. I'm not going to pretend that I don't think the original statement is still stupid, either.

Heres another way to look at it. I am fascinated by the orient, Japan, China, Malaysia, etc; Am I wrong for picking them as a vacation spot solely for that reason?

I'm gonna pray for you. 😉
