Top 10 Best Bands of the 90s?

Who does everyone think is the best/most influential band of the 90s?

I made my own list, but wondering what the KMC people think?

Betcha a coke that the name Nirvana will be thrown in a lot. 313

Thats the beauty of my list. Nirvana doesnt even make it.

i think nirvana should be on there

you could see by that list that the 90s were full of indie bands

i think blur should be on that list too

I personally think the list should look something like this...

Sonic Youth
Soundgarden
Rage against The Machine
Opeth
Alice In Chains
Dream Theater
Smashing Pumpkins
Radiohead
Porcupine Tree
Mr. Bungle

Nirvana
Smashing Pumpkins
Weezer

Not a band imo. But definitely top 10 band/musician imo.

My personal one would probably be something like:
Alice in Chains
Pearl Jam
Porcupine Tree
Oasis
Anacrusis
Solitude Aeturnus
Megadeth
Smashing Pumpkins
Rage Against the Machine
The Offspring

My 10 would be:

Radiohead

Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Massive Attack
Boards of Canada
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
Pavement

Pavement was a tough ommission.

I'm not very "educated" in the ways of 90s music, so my list might be kinda "WTF?!?", but what what can ya do? (80s music suits me better anyway, which you can see in some of my choices)

Faith No More (my FAVORITE band from the early 90s)
Megadeth
Alice in Chains
Pearl Jam
Metallica (Black Album)
Warrant (Listen to April 2031 to see what I'm saying)
Soundgarden
Smashing Pumpkins
Nirvana (they're ok)
Slaughter (laugh all you want, but Fly to the Angels is a touching song with meaning)

Modest Mouse
Radiohead
Blur
Pulp
Nirvana
The Flaming Lips
The White Stripes (debut in 1999)
Queens Of The Stone Age
Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Nine Inch Nails.

I'll have to think about this but my number 1 would be Sublime

Why is STP nowhere on those lists? IMO they were one of the best bands, musically and Weiland's voice was better than most other rock singers(excpet Staley and Cornell) from the 90's.

Just curious as to why they would be ommited from your lists.

Soundgarden
Temple of the Dog
Nirvana
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Radiohead
Mr.Bungle
Faith No More
Jeff Buckley
Rage Against The Machine
Opeth.

I forgot about them. I'd scratch Oasis and add STP.

Silly without FNM.

our list was based on what we listen to, and mainly consisted of solid rock bands with big hooks. we basically ignored everything anyone has ever told us about music, and went with what we feel were the best bands of the era.
