Don't get me wrong; Apple SHOULD have the right to make sure I'm not stealing music. HOWEVER, (and this is a big HOWEVER) it should check AFTER I have loaded my iPod.
If Apple discovers that some of my music has been obtained illegally, sure, Apple has the right to sue/charge me with theft or whatever. However, Apple does not have the right to ASSUME I am guilty of a crime and therefore hinder my ability to use the program which I have legally obtained and which I pump my own hard-earned money into...

If so, Apple has the right to investigate suspicious iPod activites. However, it is ILLEGAL for Apple to ASSUME that I am committing a crime when there is no evidence, and to only allow me to use their goods/services (which I have already paid for) AFTER they have first validated my rights...
In short, as an American citizen (granted I NOW live in Canada), Apple is violating my civil liberties and my basic human rights by ASSUMING I am a criminal (without evidence) and thus CRASHING my old-school operating system mid-file transfer with no evidence.
Explain that, Apple defenders...
