Here's an odd one-time-feat. Metron blasts Extant with a beam of energy from his forehead. It's hard to gauge how powerful the blast is, though.

The knowledge/markings Metron gifted to ancient man, were meant to be passed down over the years. Why? Because said markings are actually living symbols from the New God alphabet - symbols that literally mean "freedom from restriction":
ie. Metron gave man immunity to the Anti-Life Equation.

Morisson, Is under playing the Gods, and his own meta physical philospohy. I've heard him describe, how the Anti Life equation is basically the coded shut down of the Genesis incident; and then he made man, in his own image .... i.e. gave him free will.
Naughty Naughty, Morisson. The New Gods don't have immunity to that, or do they?

Morrison also believes in the power of words and writing though. 😉 So much so that it isn't irreconcilable with his view of the ALE as to revocation of free-will. Writing makes the impossible possible so if its impossible to escape the ALE then it doesn't matter because you have the New Genesis symbol for Freedom.
On those same lines, I always thought that Scott Free, would be the Harry Potter of the story, in respects to what u are talking about. I.e. he is the God of escape/Freedom,. I thought he would be the Sources/Gods way of escaping the anti life equation. I.e. he has the Life equation in his head, and he shares it with ecryone else. It would make him relevant !
Mann I love the New Gods, I wish they were utilize more appropriately. Not in a KMC, I would give them every power of conception, and have them rape Superman, kind of way. I mean in a really original neo mythological way. I think u could do so many cool things with them.
To fully illustrate what Im getting at, I think the worst thing about the Gaiman Eternal mini, was the fact they were firmly established in continuity. I think u could do so much more with them out of continuity. U could do a watchmen esq piece ? ... What about a contemporary Illiad, with the Eternals acting as the Gods. Whoa, Im good sometimes !!!!
