Re: My aunt was killed today...

Today at around 1:30 PM a phone call came in from my Uncle (Dad's brother) and he asked for Mom. I got Mom and Mom went in the kitchen and basically Mark said "You need to get down here to Mom and Dad's house" (Granny and Papaw's) and he said that my aunt Jane was in a car wreck earlier this morning and she died. I didn't hear what he was saying but I was in the hall and I had heard Mom talking and crying so I ran in there and when she got off the phone she told me and I just stood there blurting out stuff like "Oh my God. Oh my God. Are you kidding me?" So after we had time to compose ourselves Mom and I drove to Dad's work and went in and got the supervisors to bring him out (Mom wasn't going to tell Dad over the phone because she didn't want him driving home if he was going to be a mess--that'd just be another wreck waiting to happen) and Mom was crying when Dad walked out into the front lobby and told him and he just couldn't comprehend it. It didn't hit him. You know when you hear a bit of bad news but it doesn't hit you straight away? That's how it was with him.
So to spare the details of over Granny and Papaw's house, we don't have MANY details on what happened but we know that Jane was driving to or from her boyfriend's house and we don't know if she wasn't paying attention or she hit an ice patch but she got over into the oncoming lane and hit a cement truck and she died instantly. No one in the family is recommended to see the vehicle after the wreck and she will not have an open-casket, she's supposedly too badly tore up. 🙁
Just two weeks ago I was at a Valentines Dance with some family and she was dancing and having a good time. I just can't comprehend it. She was one of the best people on planet earth and I really can't understand why today was her time...
And what's worse is that she won't be having an open casket and I feel that I can't "get closure" without seeing her, you know? I'm never going to see my Aunt Jane ever again....
My condolences to you and your family at this difficult time, I am sorry for your loss, truly I am 🙁.

I sorry for your loss.On a positive note concerning her passing, she died instantly. If any of my family were to be taken from me...that would be the only way I would want it...I wouldn't want them to suffer in any way.
Again, sorry this happened.

Commiserations. At least she died instantly and you were saved the horror of identifying the remains.
