Actually I'm pretty sure that it was stated that Onslaught already expelled most of his energy pwning the heroes at the beginning of the crossover. He was drained by the end of the crossover.

got any scans?
as far as I recall, they weren't making much of any headway.
Onslaught only faced a proper confrontation when Hulk started to brawl with him. and then Onslaught's preening arrogance got Hulk really angry and resulted in Onslaught's armour getting smashed to bits.

and this was Onslaught with both Franklin and Nate, iirc. after he'd created the reality warping castle in which he dwelt.

Took a while to find this, knew it was somewhere at the end of the crossover just didn't know which issue. This is after Onslaught got his hands on X-Man and Franklin(Incredible Hulk #445) and created the Citadel.

Though actually now that I read through it again, I'm not sure if Onslaught is actually weaker or if he just mind rapes the Hulk again. Or he's both weaker and mind rapes the hulk.

lol, that's all going on in Prof. Hulk's mind, whilst he's digging the group towards the Citadel.

Prof. Hulk had issues about his perceived weakness, his brutishness etc.. and he was fantasising about how he'd eventually prove to be the "Strongest One There Is" (out do his Savage Hulk persona).

read the +actual+ events, from the conclusion of the Onslaught Saga cross-over, where everybody +fails+ to harm Onslaught, except Hulk (Prof. even admits he can't do it, so he gets Phoenix to switch off Banner) in his mindless state (ie a really angry Savage Hulk.

Onslaughts had his armour physically damaged before.

And it was heavily implied that Onslaught wanted his armour destroyed as he was evolving past physical boundaries.

Noez Huc beat Onslut cuze he iz number 1!!!!!

that was against a lesser Onslaught. the one they all failed to even harm was the one with Nate + Franklin's powers.

as to the "Onslaught wanted his armour destroyed" argument, Onslaught never said that. he never implied nor stated that he wanted Hulk to smash his armour.

Onslaught merely stated that he was 'now reality', after being smashed.

and, unlike when he had physical form, he ended up more vulnerable in his 'thought-form' because all the heroes combined could absorb Onslaught.

Where was it stated that this "lesser" Onslaughts armour was weaker then the armour of Onslaughts second last form?

I'm under the impression that he was referring to the entire crossover where ALL the heroes tried to bludgeon him into submission. He easily disposed of the Hulk once he was freed from his armour. There's nothing that even hints that he was angry the second time his armour was broken.

If you were refering to the first time though he seemed pretty angry.

mixed up a couple of thoughts, edited my post.

Onslaught didn't beat down Hulk after going into his energy form. it seemed that Onslaught's physical demise caused the split of Banner and Hulk (both alive) and the Pocket Universe (created from Franklin's mind) to come into existence within the same space as Onslaught's energy form... thus the heroes going into the pocket universe as well as absorbing the energies of Onslaught in one process.

The Hulk and Banner were knocked on their asses weren't they? The Hulk was out of the fight. Banner may have but the Hulk didn't even get up to go and help the rest of the heroes to absorb the energies of Onslaught. He was lying there KO'd.

and Onslaught was physically pummelled wasn't he? according to himself too.

we don't know how the Banner/Hulk separation occured, what we know is that it occured along with the energy-form of Onslaught and the Pocket Universe. so it could have been the result of the release of all that energy (Franklin's creation of the Pocket Universe) along with Onslaught's physical breakdown.

anyway, that is speculation with a definite bias, and that is all I wanted to point out.

oh and I wasn't saying that Hulk wasn't KO'd as a result of the fight, just that it +wasn't+ Onslaught's doing (at least not his energy-form), because we have no proof of it.

also, it was shortly after this that Banner-less Hulk was running around with uncontrollable extra-dimensional energies pouring out of him, like World Breaker Hulk (only on a far smaller scale).

He said he can no longer be bludgeoned into submission which he was by ALL the heroes throughout their encounters during the Onslaught crossover.(Eg...Joseph, Cable, Rogue + Vision, Thor, Cyclops, IW and the Hulk)
Reed definitely implies that the change was intentional. He was slowly assimilating the powers of Nate and Franklin until he reached this point of evolution.
The machine that Reed built was supposed to hinder Onslaughts Psi-Storms.

In that case. There's also nothing that suggests that the armour got physically stronger after he expunged Xavier. All that was shown was that Franklin and Nates powers could turn thought into reality. In the final battle Onslaught hid behind a forcefield for a large part of the battle until it was brought down by the heroes. That's when Hulk and Rogue/Vision stepped in.
