The War On Gas

Started by caedusrulesall6 pages

I don't know why Americans get so pissed about their "high" gas prices. Oh, sure, you're about to hit $4.00/gallon, but let's compare our prices here in Canada to your cheap gas.

Canadian price: $1.15/Liter. 1 US Gallon=3.78 Liters

1.15 x 3.78 = 4.347.

So, by our prices, your gas would be $4.35 per gallon.

American price:

Almost $4.00/gallon

Canadian price:

$4.35/gallon

So stop complaining. We've got it worse than you do, America.

by your logic, you also cannot complain...about anything, really

Um...explain, please?

if the fact that someone has it worse than you takes away your right to complain....well....babies are dying of aids in africa....get my drift?

It doesn't take away your right to complain about everything...just your right to complain about that subject. Canadians have it worse than Americans at the pumps, so Americans shouldn't complain about their gas prices. They can still complain that their Pizza Pops take too long to cook, that there's too much dust on their desk, that their arm hurts (these are not intended to be attacks at Americans...just random examples) or whatever, just not about gas prices.

Another example: if I complained about my standard of living, then the fact that African babies are dying of AIDS would take away my right to complain about that subject. But since we're talking about gas prices, that is out of the context then. So Americans shouldn't complain about gas prices because Canadians have it worse...but they still retain the right to complain about other things, unless other people have it much worse than them.

Now that I've explained that, everyone's happy!

That's.. actually wrong though.

Just because somewhere else in the world has it worse then you, doesn't mean you don't have the right to complain about it. That goes for anything.

yeah but at least they've got sunny weather to die of aids in

seriously though...if we're moaning about "gas" prices

average UK unleaded...106.6p per litre
uk litres to uk gallons = 4.54609

so i gallon uk = 484.613194p per gallon

current exchange rate £1 = $2.02679

so 484.613194p per gallon = 982.211220cents

so we get charged $9.82 per gallon

why, because you said so? and where did you get the delusion that canadians pay the most per barrel in the world? are you going to present evidence to substantiate this? if not, you have no right to complain either, correct?

if the fact that others have it worse takes away your right to complain, then that principle is a very slippery slope. logic.

That's true. I just wanted to make sure that Schecter knew I wasn't saying what he thought I was saying earlier, and I kind of overdid it.

You still have the right to complain no matter what, so you still can complain about it, but if you want to be nice about it you shouldn't complain.

Damn you have it bad.

Although you made one error, you used Imperial gallons instead of US gallons to compare it to the US prices.

Imperial gallon: Roughly 4.55 liters
US gallon: Roughly 3.78 liters

Oh, and I never said that Canadians pay the most per barrel of oil in the world, just that they pay more than Americans. Note I only said in my first post "We have it worse than you, America" not "This sucks because we have it worse than you, America" meaning I did not desire to complain about it.

Read my previous post about it not being nice to complain about it, but still having the right to complain about it. It doesn't take away your right.

And that's pretty poor logic you have with "Why, because you said so?". If you applied that logic to every time someone stated an opinion on a forum, every thread would become a flame war. KMC forums would catch fire and our entire community would turn into an inferno of people going "Because you said so it's true" and nobody would be able to state an opinion.

This is a forum. You'll get opinions that you don't know where they get their logic from. DEAL WITH IT.

no offense, but i've had to correct your math on several occasions. you better double check this

you told americans to "stop complaining". now, if you had said, in a one on one conversation "dont complain to me", that may be justified. however your supreme order that americans have no right to complain about gas prices, yet you do, is complete and utter horseshit. sorry.

it was not an opinion. it was purely pretentious grandstanding and worthy of scrutiny and even contempt. so:

A simple "stop complaining" is not a supreme order. I think someone's taking a simple statement too far and too seriously.

Sigh...I'll quote myself on this matter....

I think everyone else can back me on this: telling someone to stop complaining is not something that is so "purely pretentious grandstanding and worthy of scrutiny and even contempt".

Schecter, I think someone's a bit too JumpyJumpyJumpyJumpyJumpyJumpyJumpyJumpy at a simple statement.

So gas is high everywhere.

A stunning turn of events.

It's still high in America compared to what we're used to. Derp.
