Hey, what happened to Laraque? Is he hurt, or did they have to trim the rosters, or is it a white-only final?

😂

They dressed Roberts instead of Laraque.

Good move, imo. Laraque's good for a couple roughing penalties a game. A decent player, but Roberts is experienced, and the Pens have been playing physical even in defeat, so Laraque's muscle isn't really needed.

The Wings only really dominate at home. They underperform in away games. The Pens did wake up a bit though; Crosby came through for them, but Malkin is still struggling.

Correct on all counts.

Though I was a bit encouraged to see the Pens getting throttled early in game 3 (for about the first 12 minutes) like they did in games 1-2. That's right, encouraged. It means that it's not entirely about home and away, but about the Pens playing intense and as good as they're capable of.

The series isn't over. Detroit's still a big favorite, and the Pens must win all their home games. But we'll see. One game at a time.

I like to hope that the Penguins have found a new strategy which will allow them to play on the Wings level, but i think they were just playing harder. They are lacking in puck control and in getting shots on net. They still haven't proven that they can play defense on the Wings. Right now, the two things the Penguins have are individual performances and Fluery. If they want to hang with the Wings, they are going to have to take control of the puck and keep it out of their god damn zone.

True.

As a Leaf fan, Roberts has always been key during the playoffs. Ask any Sen fan out there.

But I think they kept him in because at the time, the Pens were playing awesome and the coach didnt want to mess up the team by adding Roberts in.

Good move in my opinion because I find some teams add an injured player to a team (non all star) thinking he will be better and it just destroys the chemistry on that line for a bit.

Well cock.

[/season]

Pens needed all their home games. I've thrown in the towel.

🙁

...though I got to console myself by watching that absolutely sh*tty MMA debut on CBS. Just atrocious on all counts. I'm not a huge fan of the sport to begin with, so it was good to see it pretty much fall on its ass. Legit UFC is >>>>> that tripe, so they really didn't put their best foot forward.

I thought the Kimbo Slice fight was entertaining as hell.... 😬

Yeah, theyre done.

It sucks because I'm quite annoyed by Canadian hockey fans bitching about Crosby and how he sucks.

But well, Lumieux was in the league for 5 years or so when he won his first. Crosby and Malkin wont be far behind.

I'm a boxing fan, and was appalled at the lack of real punching power either one of them had, and also at how exhausted they were after about half a round. Any UFC'er worth his salt would've done better, as would most boxers (which is mostly what Kimbo is).

I don't mind the premise of MMA, which can be strategic and athletic. But it's usually a letdown when I watch. Matches are either boring as they roll around endlessly on the ground, or the athleticism seems a joke compared to other similar sports.

Sid has been the only consistent contributor in the finals for Pittsburgh. He looks for the pass too often occasionally, but is the real deal.

Fluery deserves some credit for his performance.

I hadn't realized how poor the Penguins passing and puck handling game was until these past cup games. It is a shame they cannot control their passing because there have been several occasions in these four games where they had an open net or an advantage on Osgood, only to be lost to broken passing. The Pens did much better in Saturdays game in controlling the puck and putting pressure on ozzy, but their puck handling and passing was just so awful. I really feel for the Pens. They had a great season and i hoped more for them other than an embarrassing disappointment. I just hope this loss doesn't convince some players to not settle for less next season, because many players on this team have evolved into star players in the past year.

I know, it doesnt matter though.

Alot of people dont like him because he isnt on there team, and that he is doing extremely well and considered a diver.

I dont think making it to the playoffs and losing to the Detriot Red Wins, who I might add are extremely talented, and been together for years as a major disappointment.

They will get the Cup eventually, just not this year. I think they only person they really have to worry about signing is Malone, and Hossa but Malone can be easily replaced, while Hossa is irreplacable in my opinion. But they might not be able to afford him.

incredible game so far.

pens just tied it up 3-3.

one of the best games i've seen in a while.

Wow wings are comming hot! Sudden death tied 3-3... Come on wings!

Well it took 3 OTS, Penguins live to fight another day

Incredible. Sykora is a man of his word.

i was most impressed with Fleury.

easily the best game of the series

I agree is was a really good game.

Seemed like the wings were getting wore out.

Ohwell off to game 6.

good god damn. That was such a great game. Even though the Red wings were playing like they were on a power play from the third period to the third overtime period, it was great to see everyone dig deep. The determination in everyone eyes was almost tangible. The Penguins owe Fluery a blow job after that brilliant performance.

If the Pens can actually take control of the puck and win game 6, i think the advantage will definitely be in their corner. Either way, the last two games have been some good hockey.

if Pen's win cup, it would be great to see Fleury as MVP.

Awesome game, and I agree with Bun Bun. The energy level in the Wings from the 1st OT to the 2nd OT was a drastic drop-off.

This reminds me of the Canes/Oilers 2006 Final. The Oilers had the better skaters, better puck handlers, had better neutral zone control, but when it came down to it, the Canes were throwing their bodies and sticks in front of every shot and Cam Ward was playing unconciously.

Go Pens.

Do you think they can do it though?

Too bad they stunk in the first two games.
