Vampire RP 2: Redemption

So they will live to see another day, Darrius thought to himself as the new ruler of the city appeared with a calvary for the SWAT team. The impending small scale massacre was adverted. He knew as much based on the Princess's confidence. She didn't appear arrogant in the least bit. Just sure of herself and her guards. She was also concerned for the humans. Her thoughts were mainly on protecting them but she also was oozing contempt for the vampire, Infernus.

While it was true that he abandoned his position as General to the former ruled of this city because of the Prince's mistreatment of the humans, Darrius wasn't to fond of Kiki taking over. He held no ill feelings towards the woman but he long thought that vampires should abandon living in the shadows of humans. They were two separate species and the humans didn't even know vampires exist. Not most of them anyways.

That is why he did not return to his position as General for the currently ruler. He felt that taking over a city of humans would always cause problems. This situation just proved his point in some small way. He continued to watch.

"Calm yourself. They are at the tower. I was kind enough to take them in. She's well taken care of." She paid no mind to Infernus.

Infernus grabbed one of the guns from am officer and pointed it at him. Benjii growled, frustrated at the news "Infernus, drop the damned gun or i'll shove it down your throat," he kept his gaze on Kiki as Infernus dropped the gun, throwing down hard to see if it went off by accident. Benjii sighed "Kiki, why don't you do everyone a favor and call back your little force here and take me to see my wife and daughter."

"You know where to go Benjii. But, I will expect you to behave. No killing. Theres no need for slaughter. We have plenty of people at the tower who will offer their necks to you. Stay with your wife, and stay off the streets.. Both of you." She eyed the two. "General pull your men back. I have no need for them any longer." The soldier standing beside her nodded. "Yes, your highness." Slowly the soldiers returned to the tower for the night. Hopefully they would not be needed again.

Kiki stayed behind though. She watched Benjii and Infernus until she was satisfied that the two would not cause anymore trouble.. She also had to deal with Odihiru and his men. Humans would have seen the stand off. The town didnt need to be in a panic. The matter was quickly taken care of and no one was hurt.

Benjii relaxed a little as he closed his eyes "i don't need anything. just want to see my family. and the dog will behave. you already know how to keep him in place." Infernus ignored Benjii, smiling at Kiki "so while he sees his family, do i get to tag along with you? sure would like to see how big your ro-" Benjii held a hand up and opened his eyes "you mentioned others from your past popping in today. who else was here, besides the lurker watching us?"

Darrius had to admit that Kiki was an effective leader and that she always dealt with a situation the best she could. The people were dispersed quickly and quietly and there were no deaths. He decided that he would stay in town to observe things from afar. He would offer his assistance if he felt inclined to do so and if needed but other than that, he would not get involved with vampire politics again. He quickly and gracefully sunk into the shadows, going his own way.

Vrix watched from off to one side, leaning against a lamp post. The pathetic excuse for a SWAT team, and their van left and soon everything had settled down. He knew Odihiru, part of a special task group to to take down the Vampiic and otherworldly threat to the population of the city. however if everything was peaceful these school boy mistakes were likely. He shook his head, and smiled. They'd see Odihiru again, and next time things wouldn't be dealt with so easily. He sighed as he spotted some snow flakes had settled on his coat.

Kiki glanced at the shadows. "The lurker is nothing to worry about. I knew him once upon a time. He worked for the Prince. Vrix returned not long before you. But, I was his target. Several of my men were killed and he drew his sword down upon my head. Im not sure if his intent was to kill me or not." Her men were gone. Odihiru's were packing up to leave as well. Vrix stood at her side. "Go to them. Im sure you can sniff your wife out."

Benjii growled as he turned towards the tower "just as helpful as always," he nodded his head towards Infernus, "and take your pet for a walk and feed him before he decides to disrupt whatever peace you have here." he walked towards the tower, not looking back as his trench coat flapped behind him. Infernus sneered at Benjii's back, ready to go after him but he stopped and looked at Kiki "so your old lover is town. this can be interesting..." he walked over to her, smiling a little.

'Vrix' watched Infernus intently, standing a little ways back from Kiki after having approached. He dusted the snow flakes he'd spotted a moment ago, off his long coat and smiled as warmly as possible, as his mind reached back into the past to recall images of this particular being one he was sure he'd considered a threat, he found he was unable to do so. Vrix could only see blurred half images and feelings that weren't quite right, getting nothing but bits of static. "Maybe more for you, than me." He responded, cautiously yet callous.

Infernus smiled back at Vrizx while his eyes showed no sign of amusement. "don't worry, i have no need to kill you yet so you can relax." Infernus held his hands behind him as he let his claws grow a little.

Benjii entered the tower and looked around. "seems this place will always be there to bite me in the ass..." he sighed and closed his eyes as he walked in what seemed like random directions, "she's close...should've brought flowers"

"Now boys. Lets not fight." She stepped between the two in hopes of separating them. "Infernus dont try anything. I know your tricks. Vrix, try not to encourage him." She scolded both men.

"Cole sweetie! Cole, dont run!" A thin and exhausted looking Steph went running down the hall after her giggling daughter. The little terror had a good 10 second head start while Steph was busy locking the door. Steph rushed past Benjii without noticing. Her attention was on catching her daughter before she reached the elevator.

Infernus brought his hands up, showing his claws, amusement in his voice "guess the scars are a reminder." looked over her shouler and stomach before looking back into her eyes.

Benjii froze in place "Steph..." he turned around and watched the frail woman chasing after the child...their child. turned around and raised his voice a little "Cole, listen to your mother and stop running."

Vrix said nothing more, but frowned at his inability to recall a single memory regarding 'Infernus'. He looked up at the sky, smelling the many millions of humans. "The hunt calls..." he whispered quietly, almost sadly. He heard what Infernus said, but again couldn't clearly recall the event, beside a sharp anger. His eyes flared and his attention snapped to him.

Kiki's eyes narrowed. "Is that a threat?" She did her best to keep her anger from boiling over. Her scars burned with the memory of the hell he put her through. She could still feel his teeth and claws ripping into her. The memory haunted her in her dreams. She felt Vrix tense. She took his hand and gave it a gentle squeeze.

Cole came to a dead halt, causing her mother to nearly trip over her. Both of them turned to look at the man. Of course the child did not recognize him. She was still very young the last time she saw her papa. Steph looked like she had seen a ghost, though. "B..Benjii?" She hid Cole behind her. "What are you doing here?"

Infernus looked over at Vrix once more, an idea popping into his head. "Kiki, do you remember how you received those scars from me? i'm in the mood for a bloody story of our past." he darted his eyes quickly over to Kiki then back to Vrix.

Benjii slowly walked towards Steph and Cole, noting that his body felt numb. "i-i decided to pay the town a visit...i wasn't planning on staying long but..." he looked over Steph's frail frame, a slight frown on his face "Steph...what's going on? is what Kiki said true about you being..."

Vrix's lost his composure for a moment, trying to recall another memory, and again was only partially successful. He felt suffocated inside his own body, he looked uncomfortable yet, then seemed to return the squeeze of reassurance. His eyes bore holes into Infernus, who he was sure would only laugh it away. He said nothing.

"Infernus." She growled a warning. "Dont start. It may have been fun for you, but it was hell for us." Her hand shook as she held onto Vrix. She could smell her blood and hear his laugh again. The pain brought tears to her eyes, which she quickly blinked back. He was starting to get to her.. Which is what he wanted.

Steph took a few steps back. "Well its um.. Its quite a surprise to see you again. I um.. We didnt think youd be back." She looked back at her daughter. "Cole go back to the room, ok? Use the key like mommy showed you." She handed her daughter the room key. Cole looked up at the stranger as she walked past. "What did she tell you?"

Vrix looked pointedly at the back of Kiki's head, as if realising something. He wrapped her carefully in his arms. "Enough of this." He smiled. "Another day, perhaps Infernus."

Infernus ignored Vrix and flashed an innocent smile at Kiki "you think i would enjoy harming someone i love? must have me confused with someone else we know. now, are we going to have a little story telling or just stand here holding hands and getting pissed off?" he took a step closer to the two of them, losing his innocent smile and replaced it with a hungry one.

Benjii looked at Cole as she looked up at him. he flashed her a warm smile before looking back at Steph. "she told me you weren't doing too well...well in a sense. more like she threatened to kill me then say that she doesn't think you'd be able to handle the loss of me or something close to that. but...wait, what do you mean "we didn't think you'd be back"? who is we?" Benjii felt his anger start to rise a little. he started to breathe slowly, trying to calm himself again. "i only left to keep Infernus away from Cole...i didn't expect to be gone for a year."
