Thor vs Superman

Well fact is a fact no matter who admits of Superman's vulnerability

Hes just a writer. That dont make him anymore knowledgeable than any of us. Thor just dont have what it takes to beat Superman even with his limited magic. This may be irrelivant but at my local comic shop I actually asked the owner what he thought of the outcome of the fight and he has been reading comics since the dawn of Marvel and has a vast collection and flat out said in these exact words "Thor is outclassed Superman is just too powerful". Trust me I know alot about comics but this guy surpasses me easily. Heck he even knows Kevin Smith. But anyways this is all just opionions in the end.

Well you said " That dont make him anymore knowledgeable than any of us".... what makes you think this comic shop owner knowledgeable than any of us. "Hes just a writer"? The guy u are referring to is guy a shop owner. Sounds like a old guy to me, well if he is does not surprise me cos Superman was the comic and hero of that time. Either that or he's a fanboy. Anyway dude, We have seen Supes capabilities, but Thor is not well known cos he's always holding back.

Heh, so your local comic book merchant is more knowledgeable than a comic book writer? I've heard everything.

Basically I was just saying dont sell yourself short but if you wanna do that then thats just fine.

although i certainly disagree with his opinion...there r definitely collectors who know more than writers...there is no kind of standard of comic knowledge, creativity, or even talent when it comes to the writers...particularly right now

It's all about Mjollnir, baby...

I'll second the guy who said "Thor 7 out of 10 but of Thor tries to Brawl, he looses." I'm thinking specifically here, of the scene in Kingdom Come where Supes cuts his hand on Wonder Woman's "Forged by Hephaestus" sword. Superman winning in JLA/Avengers was pretty much a condition of DC coming to the table. They wouldn't agree to the project if their top icon would take a fall. This is the sort of thing that kept the project from happenning all those years.

In a punching match, Superman all the way, he's stronger, faster, and tougher. If Thor uses his brain i.e. magic thunderbolts (think Kingdom Come again), draining Supes' solar energy; or connects with his "Unfettered Might" attack (usually reserved for things like Surtur or Celestials, but Big S has a habit of standing there and taking big hits) the day goes to Thor.

Thor loses to the Hulk sometimes for the same reason, he forgets his brain in the heat of battle to often.

In Action Comics #782, Superman moves Warworld all by himself.

Ok again... I agree Thor could beat Superman with magic but he is not going to walk up and go oh you are not immune to magic? It will take him some time to figure out.

Superman will see that Thor has to throw Mjolnir and hold on to fly. (weakness)
Superman will see that Thor is trying to throw Mjolnir at him.
Superman will see all of that realatively early on in the fight and its not that hard to put 2 + 2 together... Thor gets most of his abilities and powers from Mjolnir. So Superman will do his best to stay out of its way.

While Mjolnir is Thor's greatest strength... it can also be exploited to be a huge weakness. If Superman can get his hands on it or seperate Thor from it for a second... its over for Thor. Without Mjolnir he will have reduced speed, strength, and magic abilities.

The entire fight would determine on how fast they would realize eachothers weaknesses and how fast they are to act on them.

Mjolnir is a magical weapon..... it doesn't matter if Thor knows Supes weakness or not..... he'll still be using a magical weapon

After coming out of the sun, a powered up Superman pushes War World, which was only the size of Pluto.

First of all, there is no prep-time for Superman to charge up. Thor could match normal Superman's strength easily.

Thor never fights without using Mjolnir. He doesn't have to guess that magic is his weakness. Every hit from the hammer will be devastating to Superman.

Okay i have heard everything. Dan jurgens has said he is no match for thor, so how much more proof do u want. accept it, superman loses.

Well If Dan Juergens says it it must be true. He must outrank Dan Didio and and Avi Arad.

One might say I'm biast but I don't believe Thor has a chance against Superman. Little 14 year olds on this forum can't determine what educated writers think would happen like in the JLA/Avengers crossover. Superman took out Thor by himself. With his hammer. Later, Superman even wielded the hammer. Mystic powers are one thing, but Superman is Superman.

The well educated writers know that the readers don't want to see Superman, DC's golden boy, lose to some Marvel second stringer.

ya in crossover it's always about that

that's why spidy beated superboy
lwov beated lobo

Sigh.... this is what you call pre-plan. Not a well analysed theory after all.

Hope if Marvel and DC comes with another cross-over, they should analyse well.

Very true. But i see Thorfans growing.

I love Thor (hey i used to hate him). But i don't want to see him winning a fight because Marvel likes him or cos people likes him. I want him to win by his own. What fun is there if you see your hero going into battle knowing he'll be always victorious. There's no element of dramaticism.
