It's not only the magic that defeats Superman, many of Thor's other exotic powers would surely be enough to take him down. Mjolnir enables Thor to use anti matter blast, anti force blast, steal souls, create force fields, absorb energy, shrink his opponents, absorb and re-channel energy, open dimensional rifts, etc, etc.

Thats just with the hammer

Without it, he's able to ex-cert godly energies in the form of blast and powerful attacks. He can cause massive storms that have been known to cover the entire surface of planets. Not to mention his strength, which is ranked amongst the best in the MU.

In all honestly, without the speed advantage Thor could take this fight 8 to 9/10.😬

After visiting about 5 websites polling this Thor vs. SuperMan thingamajig, I have yet to see Super-Man win... I thought Supes was the more popular character? not in the internet i surmise

I do believe that it's not a matter of popularity.
Superman has more fans, but their showings are matched, it's not like putting Superman against Colossus or other low level powerhouses.
It's well knowed what Thor can do, and he can do a lot more than Supes, doesn't means he's better, but he can use his abilities with SKILL, what makes the difference.
Superman can use his powers at best, but he's just less versatile when it comes to them.
Thor Powersets:
Superhuman Strength, Durability, Speed, Reflexes, Agility.
Control of Weather Elements and Elemental Energies
Mjolnir, magical/cosmic weapon with powersets into his own.

Superman Powersets:
Superhuman Strength, Durability, Speed, Reflexes, Agility.
Heat Vision, Freezing Breath, Sundipping manouver which enhance his abilities depending on the time spent into the sun.

This is ironic. I just reviewed the Superman/Thor battle from JLA/Avengers #2 and noticed something I don't think has even been mentioned. People say Thor never used lightning/blast during the fight. But in the second scan you can see the lightning/blast hitting Superman knocking him through the trees. Then Superman unleashed the Thor-Buster.

Ya didn't see the lightning bolt, but yea it looked like a poorly written fight.
