well the problem with that is.. if you fight someone who remembers all of the dial-a-combos, you get insta-wrecked because there was no way to get out of them once they got started (unlike a game like guilty gear where you could "burst" out of it)

I recognize my favorite fighting game for what it is. An gore fest with tons of characters, humor, and alot of fun novelties that wear off eventually. I recognize that as far as actual technical quality is concerned, the MK games after 2 are shit.

Because even if the game isn't serious and is shit as far as mechanics are concerned, it's still fun. Yeah, Street Fighter has much more fighting game depth, so does Soul Calibur. But, just plain fighting get's irritating after awhile. When I first MK:Armageddon me and my friend spent almost four hours just using fatalities on each other and figuring out where all the instant death spots in the levels were. I don't play Mortal Kombat when I'm being competitive. I don't play Halo either, I play Ghost Recon.

But at your own admission, the very thing you see in MK (fun) wears off. I think it would make alot of sense to say that you simply just like to play it instead of it being your favorites because the "fun" features of the game, you're not really playing it for what it was intended for.
