Indiana Jones IV or Iron Man

Iron Man was a better movie but I had more fun at Indy.

I did see Indy last night. I'm NOT disappointed. It was awesome to see Indiana in action again. Different settings...but same loveable Dr. Jones. At this time I'm going with Indy. He's just too damn enjoyable.

You haven't seen Iron Man yet?!

what are you waiting for? the DVD?

I just saw Indy IV, and I gotta say Iron Man it's the better movie. Indy still retains it's adventurous side, but the plot doesn't make sense at some points.

indy definitely had its moments, and it was exciting to see harrison ford take up the role again, but the plot went over the top in some points, even for an indy film.

Spoiler:
indy surviving an atomic explosion by hiding in a refrigerator, and the force of the impact hurtling him out of harm's way? no one is that lucky.
the ending took a weird turn. i guess you should expect it from the buildup of the plot, but to actually see it played out leaves a bad after taste that makes you question the movie itself.
Spoiler:
the UFO thing was tolerable until the last 10 minutes. a council of 13 extraterrestrials? a flying saucer rising out of an ancient temple? or rather, an ancient temple build to hide the existence of a flying saucer? either way, it went overboard.

the film had a different feel to the rest of the indy installments, but overall, a fun movie experience. i wouldn't expect too much.

and what about Mutt

Spoiler:
swinging in vines with the monkeys, and the monkeys attacking the bad guys, wtf
it looked rather cool, but.... C'mon..

I knew about the plot, and the ending was something I figured out before watching the movie, but still didn't think it was going to be as it was.. . It does end up rather ridiculous... and pointless, not to mention it creates plot holes...

still Indy IV is a good movie, and a good way to say goodbye to the character... it has its moments, Harrison Ford can still pull off Indy very well, and that I liked a lot... the plot, not so much

I thought the movie was ridiculous.

Fun, at the beginning and throughout the middle. It just completely went to pieces in some parts, and there was absolutely no reason for some of the stuff to happen. I guess Spielberg has a habit for massive, unnecessary CGI parts that convey nothing that's needed.

I thought the actors were good, as expected. Harrison Ford was funny and I suppose "charming". My biggest criticism is the timing, though.

I do not think Indiana Jones is relevant today, and even if he was, that kind of character isn't meant to be old and unable to do all the things he used to, adventurers are meant to have that impact that I didn't really get from this movie, unlike the earlier masterpieces.

It's fun, and worth seeing obviously, before judging. All in all, I think it was a bit of a let down. There will be people who say it's the best because they've invested a lot in saying it's the best before hand, but to compare it to Iron Man, to me personally, is silly.

I thought he wanted to turn away from lots of CGI in movies...

I read Karen Allen was good, but she was pretty much pointless and had nothing of importance to do thanks to the script?

I'm in no rush to see Iron Man.

Shouldn't this thread be for people who've seen, and can therefore judge, both?

I saw parts of Iron Man on Youtube.

I still need to see the entire movie in theaters. Again, no rush to see it.

Seen both

Iron Man wins

Iron Man get's my vote at least the cgi isn't corny and the story is actually plausabile...surving nukes by hiding in a fridge i mean come on......he may be Indiana Jones but theres just some things that are too stupid to overlook.

Spoiler:
aliens bones coming to life.......... i give up

Yeah, i just got back from seeing Indy a second time and i have to say that it really is a bad movie. Actually, bad doesn't quite capture the scope of the movie's epic failness. My friend took me to see this again for my birthday, and without my eyes being blurred by a child like nostalgia. I am shocked how bad this movie is and how much i tried to like it the first time around. There is no excuse for how poor the effects are. Other than the Nuclear explosion and the ending scene. All of the effects in this film are atrocious. some may argue that is was a stylistic decision, but no, that does not explain why the cgi is so awful. This is lucas magic at it's worst.

The action sequences too, are poorly choreographed. When you are not waiting for an action sequence to end so that you might get to some fun and engaging dialogue, it is interrupted by out of place humor that falls FLAT...,embarrassingly so. Seriously, In the midnight showing, i was in a full theater. Today i was in a theater with 7 other people, and i felt embarrassed that some the humor made it into the script. I can't think of one action sequence that had me interested. there is a sequence where Indy and company are fighting evil Russians in the midst of giant flesh eating ant colony. Indy ends up fighting some big Russian in the middle of millions of agitated ants (much like the fight scene with the big nazi in raiders). Although, ford did a decent job in that scene, the most interesting thing was the ants. The action was so uninspired, i wonder if Speilberg even bothered with storyboards.

The story is actually an interesting concept, one that could have fit well with Indy, but it too, failed with poor directing and writing. The set's also didn't help much to create any type of believable illusion. Other than a chase sequence you will never believe that this movie was filmed outside of a studio. There was definitely a good story there somewhere, but it was lost in poor writing, execution and production. This film felt as though it was shot and written by amateur's.

The two plus's are Harrison Ford and Shia lebouef. Shia was an exceptional side kick for indiana, and with better writing there could have been some genuine chemistry there. Harrison did a decent job in reprising Indiana, and Spielberg did do a nice job in addressing Indy's...,because he didn't. 🙁

this feels more like a bad mummy movie than an Indiana jones movie. If you want to see a bad mummy movie, watch Indy 4, if you want to see a bad indiana movie watch Temple of doom. If you want to watch a good Indiana jones movie, avoid the crystal skull and pop in raiders.

That's why i don't either dude i mean they make this big play of his age yet have him beating people up all the time like constantly ever other scene in the movie being a fight

I mean i would of seen the need for him to use his gun more i would of believed it ... i lol'd at the fight scene where he blew the skull dudes own dart at him.

Like the Ant scene is exacatly the perfect scene for that kind of homage of earlier Indy movies he could of shot the dude there and then but no a million flesh eating ants are coming to eat me so i'll stay and fight with a big russian dude half my age i mean come on.....

I didn't like the complete personality overhaul of Mac either i mean come on it's so forced it's painful.

Shia and HF defintely saved this movie from George Lucas's midas touch of epic fail.

I didn't have a problem with that scene. I don't see how can that scene be more stupider than the mine car chase in Temple of Doom or surviving the trip of the U-boat in Raiders. It's suppose to be over the top. Now, if you see Indiana Jones stepping out of character like flying as he was Superman or shooting web from his hands like Spiderman...that might be more absurd and pretty stupid.

The whole alien beings storyline didn't bother me at all, it was alright, but then when they broke out the flying saucers I thought it was a bit silly.

The fridge scene didn't bother me as much, cos it was just relevant silly action that you kind of chuckle at.

Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was the nuts.

Hahaha, knew it.

Actually knew it. Never were you going to say it was anything but awesome, you invested too much in hyping it up cos it has Harrison Ford in it.

I had low expectations for it actually, considering the Cannes reactions, muted responses on here and general common sense. I've seen Firewall, I've seen the Star Wars prequels. Genuinely, there wasn't much to be gained by going to the cinema vested with too much optimism.

But I saw it and enjoyed it. My first response was simply that it was a solid, family adventure movie. I'll perhaps have to see it again to get over my weakspot for Spielberg's playful direction; on the subject of that, it was great. He invests so much love of his craft in anything he does. It's a marvel to watch.

As for Iron Man, that exceeded expectations too. But it had the chore of 'going through the motions' of a Superhero movie, which, albeit more enjoyable than similar superhero outings, still had that slightly tired air to them, rather than a nostalgic well trodden ground for Indy.
