I was just raped.
This is a very real story about rape. So please, take it seriously.
I was one my way home from visiting my mother-in-law who was at my sister-in-law's house watching the "grandkids".
I notice that my gas light was on so I decided to stop by the Shell gas station close to my home.
I got out of my car, used my card to activate my gas pump, and proceeded to fill my car full of gas.
It was a nice evening, 65F, wind gently blowing, the sun setting in an array of colors.
A nice middle aged man pulled up across from me and pleasantly greeted me with a head nod and a "good evening". I thought to myself, "what a nice evening".
...and then it happened...
BAM!
I was raped.
After I got over the initial shock of what had just happened, I gathered my wits and frantically put the gas pump hose and handle back where it belonged and collected my receipt.
I was numb.
I didn't know how to react at the moment. All I could think about was getting home. Home was safe...yeah.......safe.
Since home was just mere blocks from the gas station, I was pulling into my driveway in no time. I pulled in and slowly put the car in park. I couldn't let go of the shifter. I let out a very shaky sighas though hysteria was scratching at the thin membrane of my sanity. When I got into my house, I set my keys down on the counter and stood there for a moment thinking about what happened.....about what went wrong.
Why did this happen to me?
I felt violated...
wronged.
I got a glass of water and gulped it down, as though the drink would wash down my dysphoric thoughts. Thoughts that were eating away at my sanity. I decided to take a cold shower thinking that would make up for the failed glass of water.
After standing there in the cold water for a few minutes, I slumped down in the shower and laid my head into my arms and lap...
"I'm a good person! I work hard and I love my family! WHY!??!?!"
I am a victim.
Let me share one last thing with you to help you better understand my perspective...
"1 : an act or instance of robbing or despoiling or carrying away a person by force....
3 : an outrageous violation "
