Well your answer lies in the fact that in an age where "schizophrenics" (to begrudgingly use an umbrella term) take their cues from TV, its not unfeasible that someone who has strong anti-Obamain feelings already snap, taking it as a "message". Or even plain old suggestability to the dumb..?
It could easily create a falsely legitimizing "Well most folks wanted it to happen- even Huckabee felt comfortable enough to joke about it on TV..." vibe. Canonizing as said earlier.
