He was old school.
Influenced by Anthony J O'Thescreamsastheyskerweredhiscatflap
and Ben Burnt all the way in his thinking..
He was very committed. Industry lore has it that he once took a fully heated red hot poker to his own tongue just to simulate the sizzling sound of a tongue being burned with a waffle iron in the 1983 episode of the Love Boat:" the Crispening of Laura Peters".
(The sound was subtly blended with the sound of a burning Zeppelin and crew)
He studied under Dave Slashingyoursexberriesmanicallywithahedgetrimmer and Edward Kickingintheteethofoldladiesspecificallytoenjoythebrittlecrunchingnoises
at the columbia Universal school of arts in 1972 where his earliest influences in hyperrealism were apparently seeing a rough cut of Lewis Knifeyknifeystabstabstab's "The evisceration of a clown", and hearing how Slashingyoursexberriesmanicallywithahedgetrimmer was working on Bozo the clown's head being smashed into a wall.
(The sound of an actual hired ex-circus clown's head being smashed into a concrete wall at 30 miles an hour, was combined with a bag of wet sand being dropped 4 feet off of a forklift pallet, to achieve the depth of sound in Bozo's beating.)
