Tatsunoko vs. Capcom

Play style, how would you compare this game to others? The 3 button fighting system - is it a more simplistic fighter? Or is there plenty of room for hardcore strategy. Is it more on par with Tekken and Street Fighter? Or another game?

Regardless of how it plays, I am getting this game. I'm an anime fan, but the only Tatsunoko license I recognize in this game are the Gatchaman characters. And yet - my interest is still piqued.

its a VS fighter.. theres plenty of combos to be had.. the systems are

-standard advancing guard of MVC2 (pressing all 3 buttons + forward while guarding causes you to push your opponent backwards)

-aerial combo extender.. quarter circle forward + partner button during an air combo causes your partner to come in and you continue from there

-partner counter.. you press forward + partner the moment you block and partner comes out and counter attacks

there is also 2 ways to do team supers.. you can do the standard MVC2 way, which you have to kind of wait / plan out when you want to start the 2nd super.. and there is a new way (which costs 3 super meter), where you hold the partner button as your super is starting up.. and even if your partners super takes longer, when yours ends you can act

and Baroque Cancel is the cherry on top.. depending on how much red (recovery) life you have, the stronger the baroque is.. so much so that if you have enough red life you can possibly kill someone with one combo.. it removes the lag on all of your abilities while active.. to do it is partner button + an attack button (might have to be during a combo? I havent tried it much)

so.. to compare with others.. its closest to MvC2 but IMO its alot more fun

Also.. you dont recognize Tekkaman Blade? O_O

😆 First 5 star game of the year from X-Play: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.

Good shit, Wii. 👆

super excited for this

I found something kind of interesting (and Black Yoshi, you might wanna look at this too)

Seems like characters that were planned for the game. And with all this talk about DLC, there might be a chance we might see them in the game if it's true.

ugh.. I hope they do ronin warriors for their next crossover ><

F*ckin' love Saki. She's incredible.

so far... I'm of the opinion that every single tatsunoko character is just outright 100% better than any capcom character in this game.. it seems to mimic MVC2 in that way... they all have crazy good mixup.. are fast as hell.. have great reach.. and their specials and supers are really damn good, and they seem to do a lot of damage as well...I honestly think ryu and chun are the only competition for them on the capcom side..

Goddamn classic, that one is. I still remember having the Infero Armor action figure. I already have ideas for Ryo's supers.

I bought this game for my son but didnt gave it much mind until I saw him playing it. It looks real good. Was looking for a 360 version afterward only to find is a Wii exclusive.

yep.. wii'clusive... there are lil (non madcatz) arcade sticks (I think by hori) for like 39 bucks a pop

Tatsunoko's Karas would own any Capcom character in this game. fo' sho' 313

X-Play gave this a 5 out of 5?!? This is the 3rd time in a row they gave a 2d fighter a perfect or near perfect score. Was not expectin' that. I wish I had a Wii of my own.

2D fighters have come back strong, knockin' 3D kings like Tekken 6 and Soulcalibur IV out of the spotlight totally and rightfully so.

2D wit Avengeance!!!

i hate 2d fighters >_>

has soul calibur and tekken ever been in the spotlight?.. SC hasnt been good since 2.. and tekken hasnt been good since 2 either (imo)

plus.. most of these are 2.5d fighters.. which play very different from pure 2d.. and I'm not sure when Xplay became good at reviewing

that said.. I am still glad fighters are making a return

I happen to disagree with a LARGE portion of that...but opinions are opinions and there's no use in arguin' about it.

well if you think about it.. tekken and soul calibur arent nearly as popular as they used to be.. they still get lovin' ..but I'd like to say that even @ the age of tekken 3.. tekken was more popular than it is now... and seriously.. soul calibur 3 was a joke.. and 4 kinda tries moreso to repair what 3 did than to actually be a standalone title if that makes any sense

as for 2.5d... you cant possibly think using a 3d model in place of a 2d sprite wont have any impact on gameplay at all

Yes, their popularity went down but they were still the most popular games in the genre or at least that's how it appeared to me.

2.5D doesn't impact gameplay, at least not to me.

LOL @ 2.5D...

I also saw this today at a gamestop (which I went to to get a Gamestop 360 controller which has a d-pad that is leagues better than the default, too bad they only had it in purple and shitty condition...). A kid was just standing there watching and clutching the wiimote...I asked "you gonna play that?" he just nodded. Anyway I wanted to see how Karas played in that since the Karas anime is one of the most artistic I've ever seen, and Karas would solo most in that game. He's pretty much the anime version of Flash in speed. Ryu's ki blasts don't stand a chance. 😎

They should've also put this up on Xbox Live Arcade, with better graphics too. Wii is about 2% higher in graphics capability that the original Xbox...which still pwns it. Don't have to break your expensive LCD by accidentally tossing the shiitmote at it. 😂
