Thing is that you like this nation, presumably, I honestly cannot fathom why.

My guess is that you like it because you were born here, as I did for a while. People who come here from foreign countries may like it also, but I honestly see nothing that good about it. Look around you for a bit, shit weather, shit food, an enormously xenophobic and annoying people - I can't wait to get out of here.

A messy house wont get any tidier if everyone runs away and abandons it.

I fully intend to run away, I don't feel like I have any duty to the country just because I was born here.

I'm very patriotic. However, I do agree, stupid people are a big problem here. Thing is, looking at other countries, there isn't many on par with ours. I guess maybe Japan, USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia are pretty good second choices, as well as some European countries, but I'm sure I'd be happier here...but not the north, I'm definately moving out of the north.

I think I'll move to Italy.

Every week, washingtonpost.com's Chris Cillizza rates the 5 most likely choices (he believes) for VP for both Obama and McCain.

The Democrats this week:

5. Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius
4. Rhode Island Senator Jack Reed
3. Delaware Senator Joe Biden
2. Virginia Governor Tim Kaine
1. Indiana Senator Evan Bayh

I was under the impression that Vatican City was it's own country.

It is. I hear Italy's pretty nice despite that.

that just might have been my joke.

Bill Richardson should do it. As the former Energy Secretary and a current state governor, he's the most qualified.

I'm not sure why he's not getting talked about more.

1. He's hispanic which is bad as well as good, I mean two minorities on the ticket? Could drive away independants
2. He finished fourth in the presidential race, so he's not really regarded as a winner
3. He's pretty risky. He might look good now, but even Edwards looked good in 04.
4. He's old news

They're possible reasons.

Dave Chapelle did a skit a few years ago. He said a black presumptive nominee should pick a Mexican running mate. Because if some white racist bumps the president, they'll only be opening up the border completely.

Nah, a minority ticket would seem like a bump to white folk. It may seem silly, but to independants and liberal republicans, it's like uber minority favouritism, that they really want minorities in the white house. They already support immigration. And this is without the FOX news smears.

McCain also supports immigration, that's why the really far right don't like him and call him a "maverick" all the time. But in the case of Gov. Richardson; a Black/Mexican ticket would be pretty damn unprecedented. I pointed out that he was a former Cabinet member and a current state governor. A junior senator who was a nobody five years ago, needs that kind of experience on his side.

Biden finished 5th, and he's being talked about more.

Biden must have some really good qualities, or people just think, oh he ran for president, people must want him as VP.

Not that he had a huge chance, but you can rule out Edwards as a potential VP. He just came clean with having an affair with Rielle Hunter.

He does. I would have preferred a Biden/Kuccinich ticket.

Well, I've never really known much about him, he quit after Iowa and came in 6th place.
