Mongrels gauntlet continued. Wolverine vs. Shadow Stalker.

Logan gets quite a beating. Plus verbal ownage. In the end though, he emerges victorious. This pretty much shows that no matter how skilled you are, healing factor is too much.

Uncanny X-Men #539

More Wolverine respecting. That's Crimson Commando acknowledging that even with his powers taking Wolverine wouldn't be easy.

Crimson Commando couldn't even beat Storm in h2h with his powers. 😎

Clearly, Jason Aaron needs to get fired. The adamantium men was half-way to not sucking. But then Wolverine got brain washed and had to go running around collecting brains. Talk about a complete failure in terms of creating a decent villan. Aaron promptly follows that up by a Wolverine-out-control-but-not-his-fault story. Because that's never been done before. Now, we have Wolverine getting owned by carnival rejects. Inconstistency much? He went from Manifest Destiny to this? Looks like it's another Daniel Way folks. Get used to fights that make absolutely no sense with a formula that has Wolverine lose to everyone except enemies that he should actually lose tol. I just hope this jackass gets canned soon so we can pretend these stories never happened.

Jason Aaron has been the only good writer on a Wolverine main title since Warren Ellis in 1998...

I really liked the Adamantium Men and the Asylum arc. I thought they were really well done. 😕

Tieri was/is better. Aaron is so logically inconsistent that I can't stand reading it anymore. But I guess if you think Logan can be taken down by tooth bullets..that's the best Wolverine's had in over ten years? Really? Really... 😱 😆

His development of villains so far has been an absolute joke. The fight sequences make absolutely no sense. You consistently have average Joes and nobody's who have no business being in a comic book making Wolverine look bad. Jason Aaron is b-list at best. The story's are half-way decent sometimes. Everything else I mentioned is utter shite.

The only good think to come out of Tieri's run was the Shiverman.

First of all we don't know anything about the Mongrels other than the fact that they look stupid, so you have no foundation for the assumption that none of them are a match for Wolverine in the first place. We know next to nothing about these characters, there history or abilities... and he still kills one of them an issue. Second of all if you want to "read" is a story where the main character just effortlessly beats up people every issue, then I'd suggest reading manga.

I like him, and he is the best Uncanny writer in more than half a decade but Kieron Gillen writes Wolverine with a really gimped healing factor.

I don't think it's that bad. Kruun stabbed him off-panel god knows how many times, Commando hit him with everything he had...

Pretty sure he was just playing possum, so that freak would take him to his shelter.

You're entitled to your opinion, but comparing Aaron to Way? C'mon man.

Mr X sucked iyo? 😛

Gunhawk has a few appearances prior to Mongrels.

I think it's a Gunhawk, not the Gunhawk. The original Gunhawk was a western gunslinger from the late 1800, I suppose it's possible that it could the same character who has been given powers and resurrected but I doubt it. Two different characters with the same name.

Well, his stories certainly sucked.

I like Mr.X to be honest he one of m favorite villains.

Wolverine owned Scarecrow and jumped like a hundred feat onto that Helicarrier in Fear Itself: Wolverine...

He also restrained a trigger sent berserk X-23 pretty easily in her own book.

Scans!

Mr. X himself doesn't bother me that much, but he's always been a "his powers are cooler than he is" type of guy to me. The stories he was involved in were almost always complete crap though.

How has Liu's run been?

According to comicvine he's the same character, but according to marvel database he's not. Guess we'll have to wait and see, Aaron stated in some interview that he's a western fan, so him bringing that character back from the dead seems plausible.

I really like his fight with Scarecrow. That was a pretty quick owning when the likes of Daredevil and Spider-Man as far as I recall made that short work of him.

Should have been able to do it without being stabbed.

I never said that I want to see Wolverine easily beat up every one he encounters. It's just that the villains he's encountered so far seem lacking in the physical department. So you see nothing wrong with this? Why don't we know anything about their abilities? They seem b-list to me. Twenty years ago, Wolverine was dealing with the likes of Roughhouse, Bloodscream, Omega Red etc. Ten years ago, it was Mauvis, Mr.X, etc. Wolverine got owned frequently but it made sense because the characters were actually decently powerful.

You have a point that we actually know nothing about these new characters actual abilities, but the fact remains that Aaron thinks that Shang Chi would paralyze Wolverine with a strike to the spine. That's the guy you want writing the stories? Seriously? Didn't Mystique hold off Wolverine with a wooden chair? And we have no evidence that he was just playing possum with the tooth bullet incident. He has enhanced senses for a reason. I think he could manage to find the cabin of two stinky semi-retarded neandrethals who regularily engage in cannibalism. The entire cabin would have stank of rotting meat. Plus he had the trail of the guy they took. If he can't find the cabin without playing possum, he should freakin' retire. To top it all off, the hand showing intrest in these two idiots is just retarded. Why would a powerful ninja organization like the Hand even want anything to do with these two low-lifes? They wouldn't. It makes no sense and is utterly stupid.

The sad thing is, you are right about Aaron being the best writer Logan has had in about ten years. Even after all of the flaws I mentioned, he is still better than Tieri at least storywise. However, Tieri created much better villains and the fight sequences made sense somewhat. Guess we could roll the dice and get another Daniel Way. But that doesn't change the fact that this guy still isn't that great.

Those fans are like 40-50 feet tall. How far away would that ship need to be for them to appear only slightly taller then a hunched over Wolverine in perspective?
