But he works for Alderan by ANH. He is on an Alderanian consular ship!

that doesn't mean he was on Alderaan...
he can be on that ship, and that ship is flying around...

But it is still Leia's consular vessel. He carries a message FROM Leia. Come on, no-one would not have made the link.

he lifes on Tatooine, he hasn't seen Leia in 19 years!

But he still knows that she has the droid! Or at least that he left it with those people. Probably with Bail.

Little thing? Are you mad? It's all from the most important time in his life!

Obi-Wan will almost certainly associate more with R2 in the later films. Be sure, he knows who that is in ANH.

I prefer the term emotional ill... got a problem with that?!

And in AOTC he has an R2 droid and it's a red one... confusing enough
