I use sprint and the guard uses T mobil, and it happened to him too. Both his phones, his cricket too.

AT&T bought up a bunch of cell phone providers, I am not sure on which ones exactly but I think Sprint was one of them. It's possible they may have bought up T-Mobil as well and if that's the case then the tower would have been giving out both signals.
