Ok after a day of playing this is my opinion on the f2p.....
Right off the bat you can only create 2 characters. They continue to restrict you by the classes you can make. I made 1 Jedi and 1 Sith. I don't mind because the only ones I really care about are the Jedi and Sith......mainly Sith....If I had more slots then I would probably make a bounty hunter as well but I don't want it enough to sub. You can't customize companions looks at all but yet again I don't care about that. You can still mod your weapons and the cash has a much better upper limit then DCUO f2p. DCUO is 2,000 for a premium and in Old Republic I am past 2,000 and still haven't hit a limit. I haven't run into any issues for holding my inventory with the slot limits. You can't use the storage bank but I almost never use those in these games. DCUO I have only just started using them. In truth the only thing that might get annoying is after you hit level 10 you have a limited amount of health probes and after they are used they are gone. You have to go to the marketplace and put real money in it. More importantly though, leveling. Since Im f2p after I hit lvl 10 the experience I gain is less then subbed. Right now its not a big deal because it doesn't seem to be that much less then normal......we will see how that goes in higher levels.
So all and all im f2p and Im enjoying it. I think I will continue being f2p for now....at least until I get my sith and jedi leveled pretty high that is.

The whole point of F2P is to get an influx of new gamers in game and then wow them. Have them immerse themselves in the experience to the point where you can convert them into buying something small that enhances their experience. Then again, and again. Pretty soon that customer becomes more lucrative than if they had been paying a subscription fee because they are buying in small amounts of $2-$5 so it doesn't trigger in their mind that they just spent a total $24 on the game last month. If you restrict so much that the game is not fun while free, most people will just get frustrated and delete the game.
Yes, this is exactly what everyone I've seen is saying. That the way to do f2p is via those small purchases (which would be free in subscription to entice players) and that the way Biowares doing it is pretty dumb in punishing f2pers into paying a subscription.
It all seems so obvious that I'm, baffled that they've gone the route they did. How can random dudes on the interwebs know this and they don't?
Also apparantly they're planning on restricting how many characters returning f2p customers can have down to 2. So even if you had a bunch of characters (like me) you'd only get to keep 2. Le sigh~

Which ones will you choose to keep? If I had to choose I'd probably go for my Knight and Agent. I'd almost finished my Agent as well. 🙁
My Jedi Knight is the one I've levelled up the most, so definitely him.
Maybe my Sith Warrior too. Not sure. Hopefully I can go back to subbing so I won't have to worry about this crap...
This game = WoW with voice acting and a star wars coat of paint. That's not a bad thing, mind you, but it's pretty shocking how identical it is to WoW in many key areas. Controls the same, combat is the same, quest structure is the same. Items are pretty much the same.
I'm enjoying the leveling process well enough so far. The wilderness is pretty. And the storylines are kinda fun. The dialogue wheel is working nicely. I know why this game didn't do well, though. The leveling process is story based and fun, then the end game just becomes grinding dungeons like WoW. Except WoW now has more stuff than that, and more dungeons, and probably better designed dungeons.
Still, seems like a pretty decent game. Playing a Jedi Knight and am enjoying it.
They just fixed two of the biggest issues with the Free To Play version: http://www.swtor.com/info/news/blog/20121204
Character slots are increased to 4, and number of quickslot bars also increased from 2 to 4. Now this game is very much playable for a much longer time than previously.
I am new to this game, so I need some tips;
1. Which Jedi build has best Force powers; Guardian or Sentinel?
NOTE: Somebody in the game hinted that it is Jedi Guardian + Last Tree (I didn't get the Last Tree part; is it the Focus (Combat) tree?)
2. Which Jedi build is good for both PvP and PvE purposes?
3. What is the best Jedi Guardian build?
4. What is the best Jedi Sentinel build?
This is hilariously hamfisted and incompetent. They still get some props for even including homosexual content in the first place, but they didn't do a good job here. I don't get what they're talking about when they say that making companions romanceable by both genders. Surely you just have to click a box having the content show up for both genders.
Edit: Actually, thinking more about it, they'd need to record the romance lines for the same gender options and add them in I guess.
I'm pretty sure thats a joke image, lol.
At least, I hope so. :I

I heard about this, and I don't get it. Mass Effect, even as laughable as it could be at times, has had same sex relationships for years. Dragon Age had them. What part of Bioware is screwing this up so badly...I mean yeah, I get that stuff needs to be recorded etc, but still...
It was probably the LucasArts aspect that was holding back the inclusion of gays. Star Wars isn't exactly super-progressive. The last time Bioware tried to include a same-sex romance (Juhani), they were forced to gut it iirc.
Its notable that this is only happening after Lucas stepped away imo.

That's definitely possible. I just hope the game can make this not suck, and move forward from here.
I rather think that was a mock-up shot, KingD19...
This poor game- it's getting beyond a joke now. Every step they take seemed to be cursed.
This is actually a case where it might have just been easier to say 'sod it' about SGR. It's the kind of issue where people may make a lot of noise about it n the forums and the like, but I doubt it really makes any significant difference to the majority of players. But as it is, now they have an approach liable just to annoy everyone.

I'd love to have a chick bounty hunter get it on with Mako.

Yeah, I had so much gurlmance with Kira that I was planning to wait for her as a romance option before I quit. Doc just wasn't as interesting.
Sucks. 🙁
I liked Kira, though I was a M at the time so was actually getting a romance out of it.
