Big news for Subscribers: Rise of the Hutt Cartel, the expansion to the game, is actually going to be free for subs starting September 12th.
The consensus in some places is that SWTOR is ready to roll out its next expansion (rumoured to be a space combat based one, with pvp elements), so BW are, quite sensibly, making sure that they don't become another World of Warcraft.
More rewards incoming for players:

Not much, but every little helps.
Have you guys seen the datamined hints for the upcoming space content? If genuine (which seems very likely), it's very intriguing stuff- though I will be disappointed if it is PvP only.
On the whole, though, it seems to have the same basic shield and power management system that the original X-Wing/TIE Fighter games did, but with a skillbar added as well so there is RP progression involved.
... actually I am really keen for more info on that space combat now. Stop clamming up, Bioware! I might even go for it if it is PvP only, much as I hate that. If it is PvE as well, we are in awesome-town.
As it turns out this game won in the long term with me, as I've been playing the hell out of it and ultimately enjoying it more than GW2. That's not necessarily a value judgement, but more that the route they chose to go down here ended up being more suited to the way I play and enjoy games, and so despite being uglier than GW2, more primitive in engine design, highly derivative in gameplay design to a lore-shattering extent and with a highly objectionable approach to the F2P model (far more forgiveable when starting from 0 money outlay, though), there's a huge amount to enjoy. It has also proven to be FAR less stylistically objectionable in its Star Wars interpretation than I thought it would be, to the point where I am seeing people bitching about various story bits on the forums and thinking "... oh. I thought that bit was really good."
See, I've played all through KOTOR and I don't see the big deal there. I thought Bioware made a heroic effort to integrate Revan into the new continuity. His memory is all over the place; the whole setting reeks of his presence, and he's being- quite literally- worshipped. There couldn't be more respect for the guy.
(Heck, they've even tried to make KOTOR II make sense, and lord knows I'd have entirely understood if they had just gone on as if it had never happened)
It's always risky having to tie down into canon something that had always been open, but they had no real choice there, and meanwhile it's not as if he could just go and sort everything out, partly because that would undermine the point of an MMO, but mostly because HIS story is actually already done. He's had his heroic time.
All in all, I thought they got Revan as right as it was reasonably possible to do so.

I have a passing knowledge of Revan outside the game, and of course I came across his legacy during my Sith Warrior playthough (level 47, almost there). What's so objectionable about his treatment?
It might be due to the fact that he [spoilers]seem to die during an Imperial Flashpoint
, however seeing as
he disappeared in a flash of smoke and no body was found[/spoiler... I think the outrage is unwarranted.
Also a friend of mine wanted to play, so I started a new character with him, and wouldn't you know? I got hooked again and have been playing on my other characters as well.
Subscribers get early access on Dec 3rd. Preferred gets Jan 14th. And then poor old f2p gets it 2 months after Subs on Feb 4th.
