STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Runaway

Can they fire at Xavier yet?

You can act before they can as their sensors pick you up and the ten pivot around to take aim...

Is there any obscuring Xavier's path to the other side of the hall, or any panels that look like they run the turrets?

No panels, but... nothing blocking the other doorway. They will get off one barrage before you make it fully through the door.

Xavier will blur straight forward. Can he use his Saber for defense while doing the blur?

If not then just run straight for it.

You can. I am assuming you will use Defend to protect against multiple attackers.

The heavy turrets send forth their lasers, the bolt ricocheting off of your lightsaber and crashing against every surface. One bolt manages to catch you, burning across your side as you hurl yourself through the door. 7 damage, putting you at a total of 31 damage.

The room at the bottom of the staircase is dark.

Xavier uses the glow rod to try and see what is in the dark.

You feel the danger before you see it. From out of the darkness, a pair of glowing eyes flash towards you, then another pair, then another... untily ou are confronted by five droids that are clad in the flesh and garb of dead pirates, their eyes glowing from beneath the stretched and sewn faces.

Instead of attacking from a distance, they each raise their fists, which crackle with energy in the darkness.

Xavier activates his lightsaber. Then he uses combat push to attack one of the droids.

Defend for defense.

It seems these droids are more durable than you expect. You try a Combat Push and it merely shoves the droid backward some, to no effect.

They come at you with a brawling style, simply flailing their mechanical fists at you. You fall back, interposing your lightsaber to mess up their attacks. 13, 12, 11, 8... at skill 11, these droids come close enough that you can smell the electricity crackling in their metal hands, but you can't feel it!

Player privilege to you, sir.

Xavier will use twirl to attack two of the droids.

Defend for defense.

Now, these droids are Supermooks. That means you get a hefty +4 from Mook-Killing Powers, thanks to your lightsaber and Carnival of Carnage. A 10 and a 6 are upped to a 14 and a 10...

The droids you attack actually make an effort to stay out of the way. Impressive combat programming. On top of that, they have light forearm-mounted shields that increases the difficulty to cut them apart... but you manage to deal 23 damage to the first one. The second is a miss as your lightsaber merely skims the thin shield.

They retaliate! 12, 7, 16, 17, 8... two hits! For 4 and 5 damage, 9 total.

Xavier to attack!

Twirl again.

Defend for defense

19 and 9... with the fierceness of your twirling blow, you manage to cut right through the shield and sever the first droid's arm, then finish it off as you sweep your blade through it into the next droid. The shield allows it to fend off the worst of the attack, but you still inflict 22 points of damage.

One of the droids smashes his fist into your upper arm for a jolt of 5 damage.

I made an error; only the droids you attacked should have dodged. I am giving the other droids back one frame. Remember that Defend only works against foes all on the same frame.

Because of the correction, the droids get another attack, but I'll have it miss, so privilege is yours.

Also, Force pool refresh!

Xavier will Twirl again.

Defend for defense

Oddly enough, 9 and 19 this time around. You dismantle another droid with a sweep of your lightsaber and bring it crashing into the second, forcing it backwards by slipping your lightsaber past its shield for 26 damage.

No successes for the remaining droids.

Twirl

Defend for Defense

A 20 is almost wasteful as you vivisect the damaged droid. The next droid catches your lightsaber solidly with its shield, then punches you square in the jaw with a 20 of his own. The shock sends pain throughout face and neck as you take 7 damage and recoil, backing into a jab from the last droid that electrifies your back for 6 damage. 13 damage total!

Incoming attack from one droid, but you are acting ahead of the other.

Dodge the attack from the one droid.

Then Twirl the two droids.

Then defend against the other one.

Are you using an active dodge or a Force Dodge against the droid?

And if you are going to use a defense against the other, Defend is pointless. You'd rather take an active dodge.
