STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Runaway

Before you can get close enough, Friste ignites his lightsaber and holds it to your throat. As it is, the Key of Mortez is hanging from a chain around his neck. It crackles quietly with energy.

Xorn also draws his blasters, and it becomes a stand off.

"I thought we had discussed this, Xavier," Friste says, staring at you down the length of his sword.

"We did, " Xavier says.

"Then what is it you think you are doing?" Friste asks. "All that remains of my plan is to place the Key into the generator and our army will rise. Does this not please you?"

"It was only my intention to put myself as close as possible. I was worried about what Xorn was about to do."

Friste scrutinizes you, then looks to Xorn.

Xorn is outraged. "You think I was going to attack you?" He turns so that he has a pistol on you and Friste.

"We both know all he wants is the key. He'd do anything for it. We all knew at some point he would double cross you. What better time then now, Friste."

Playing off the paranoia of the Dark Side does you well here. As does the 19 you roll on your Lying check. Friste stares hard at you for a moment, his mind probing yours... then flicks his lightsaber towards Xorn.

"Xavier, hold him here while I raise my army," Friste says. "Then we shall see who is double-crossing who..."

He waits to see what you are going to do.

"Excuse me, " Xavier almost stutters on the words. "... Master but would it not be more logical for us to end him now while there is the two of us, that way he has no chance to disrupt your plans."

"He has not yet served his usefulness," Friste says, cracking a smile. "The Jedi are here."

Xavier opens his senses up to reach out into the void.

It is faint, but sure enough... you feel the familiar presence of Master Cabas, coming closer.

"He is not alone," Friste says to you. "You know this."

"Yes, Stathos..." Xavier says calmly.

Everything has come full circle now, everyone we want in one area together.

Xavier whispers to himself, "Not you, not now."

"We can't allow the Jedi to ruin our plot," Xorn says. "Not this early in the game."

"Precisely," Friste says, reassured that he has united Xorn with him against a common foe. "Now... to initiate the reanimation process."

Friste steps towards the machinery, removing the Key of Mortez from around his neck. As he begins operating the machinery to prime it for the power transfer, Xorn glares at you.

"I don't trust you," Xorn says. "How do I know you aren't just going to link up with your teacher here? Friste and I could take them without YOUR help."

"Maybe you could, maybe you couldn't but with me out of the way it would make it that much easier on you to betray Friste, and take off with the artifact for yourself," Xavier snaps back.

Xorn tenses his jaw at the comment. His lust for the artifact is fairly obvious; it partially caused his fall to the Dark Side as it is. He cannot use it without Friste, however, because he does not know how.

"I can't take on the Jedi myself," Xorn says. "What a stupid idea."

"No but Frsite can, so you could take the artifact and run leaving Friste to fend for himself."

Xorn shakes his head. "I'd have to kill him."

"You telling me you wouldn't try to if that opportunity presented itself," Xavier states rather then questions.

Xorn does not answer, only looking over at Friste as he makes the final preparations on the machine. It begins to hum quietly as it powers up, lights flashing and gears cranking. His back is turned.

"No... we need him," Xorn says. "I don't know how to use the Key."

"Yes but I doubt you would get a second chance like this when he won't have a super army right,"
