He raised taxes even on the middle class.

His 1993 Budget which I think is when we began giving big refunds to people who paid no taxes (a redistribution of wealth)

the "assault weapons ban" which is now expired.

his pathetic response to the bombing of our embassies

NAFTA (look where that got us) it got us that sucking sound that Ross Perot warned us about as those American companies left to do business outside our borders. (and passed congress without a single republican vote)

Those are a few off the top of my head. shall I continue?

Yeah, so you disagreed with his points. But how did you "suffer"?

We are also back to the good old days of walkouts on capitol hill, when the party in control legislates at their extreme, the other party walks out and does not vote (the legislation passes anyway). this has been done by both parties in the past and is never good IMO.

When you have a two party system, one party or the other's always going to have a majority. Whether or not that party is the same one the president represents therefore becomes almost irrelevant, because then the policies supported by the majority party are always more likely to be approved than rejected.

My taxes went up.
had to switch careers (which I blame on NAFTA).

"suffer" is the same term used by many liberals under a conservative government so I consider it fair.

He had to pay an extra couple dollars in taxes, or something, and couldn't go and buy himself an AK-47.

Or in other words, he didn't.

So, you just randomly blame NAFTA, or it actually had something to do with it.

For the love of MERCY! Can the media STOP putting the friggin camera on the face of Oprah and Jesse Jackson?

Keep it on the new President FFS!

They did, you just couldn't tell the difference.

Prejudice. 😐

Not that I necessarily agree with whatever he is saying.

But do I need to directly suffer to stand-up for principle?

No, of course not. You do need to directly suffer to say you suffered though.

Could you stop jumping around the bush and just say whatever you want to say?

Fair enough.

What are you talking about?

He wants you to talk about specific examples instead of being a politician.

I thought whe Chit was saying was pretty obvious. Generalizations and vague speaking leaves nice wiggle room for debate, but it isn't doing very much of anything.

Ok...

What isn't specific about what I said? I said isn't it okay to stand-up for principle even when something doesn't directly effect you?

If you want me to go into detail with something, tell me what and I will.

This election was a personality contest, how many people really took a look at policies.

If some genius geek, ugly and uncolloquial person would run for president, this person wouldn´t win. Even though their genius could bring amazing positive changes.

That depends on his/her opponent.

Back to the US election, 08.

NC is the last state to be confirmed, I'm betting it'll go for McCain by about 1%.

I cant wait, a year from now I will be rocking the "Don't blame me, I voted McCain" shirt.

So you can finally get rid of your "Blame me, I voted for Bush shirt?" haermm

If only I voted for Bush, silly bear.

Just wanted to say congrats to the people behind the Barack Obama campaign for winning. As with any president, I hope the script writers write soothing State of the Union Addresses, the cabinet makes the right decisions, and the Senate and House pass the right legislation, Obama keeps smiling, and we'll all be fine.
