Funny, but I have the feeling McCain was taken out of context.
When you say "I believe the fundamentals of our economy are strong", it's hard to take that out of context.

I'm searching and having a hard time finding...

Are there any anti-Obama videos out there that are actually GOOD like some of the McCain videos?

Define "good". If you believe Obama is a sexual deviant, then the add saying Obama wants to teach 5 year old about sex is great.

It's not his fault. He had a black father that got all uppity and had relations with a white woman. It's genetic with him.

I got the feeling that he was going to say "for now" or something of that sort, and a lot of ads like that whether they be from the left or right, take things out of context.

I saw a video of a 13 year old saying he wouldn't vote for Obama because he thinks he's a terrorist...and by that I mean, I don't know.

McCain is again tied with Obama at RCP average of all polls.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/us/general_election_mccain_vs_obama-225.html

This also includes the Daily Gallup poll moving back in Obama's favor +2.

Interestingly enough, the RCP electoral map still favors McCain at this point (+20), and several battle ground states have changed over to McCain, or leaning McCain.

They are: FL, VA, OH (McCain) CO, PA (Obama up by less than 2%) and WI (obama solid).

So the "Palin/convention bounce" is done and now we'll see where it goes.

My opinion (as a McCain supporter): they really screwed themselves with the negative ads. People were starting to side with McCain and see Obama as less qualified (and by people I mean undecided independents, not us partisans who've made up our minds 😛 ) and moving his way. But the negative ads are a real turn-off.

I don't think Palin's ABC interview hurt or helped her. Most who like her still do, those who don't still don't, and undecideds aren't sure yet.

The debates will be the next big test of how the polls may shift again.

(though I read today where some on the democratic side are thinking that Obama will need a 5 - 8 pt. lead right before 11/4 to win it. If it's still a tie, he may lose due to the so called "Bradley Effect" in polling.)

Mike Gravel talks to Riz Khan on Al Jazeera English

btw: Al Jazeera = the best news station on the planet

YouTube video

I agree with most of what he says, especially at the end when he talks about a conspiracy to get him out of the democratic party (ok, whatever). I feel a lot of what needs to be addressed in American politics doesn't get brought up at election time, and especially with, at least what I have seen, the way the conventions were covered. I think its a combination of apathy for "thinking", media/entertainment confounds and general cynicism on the parts of the parties that keep issues, at least the ones I care about, off the table.

lol, /rant. Its related enough to the topic, and I really enjoyed the video. I'm a little embarrassed I hadn't heard of mr Gravel prior to this (I guess the name was familiar, but you know what I mean)

I don't think it has much to do with the ads, but more the economic disaster that's going on. Making the outsider (Obama) look more attractive to people. Plus I think the excitement about Palin is fading a bit. Especially with her decision to refuse to cooperate with the bipartisan investigation of troopergate. Many will likely take that as her implying that she has something to hide.

The ads may have turned some people off -- I know they did my mom. She was slightly favoring Obama but she still really liked McCain, then she saw that scummy sex ed ad and thought it was pretty pathetic and now says she will never ever vote for McCain. They turned me off too. While he didn't lose my vote - he never had it; he lost my respect with that ad. But I don't think many people had a similar reaction because they didn't bother looking at the actual bill, and probably just passed it off as more silly mud slinging.

Plus Obama had a strong ad yesterday that may have helped him, capitalizing on McCain's "the fundamentals are strong" comment.

Doesn't matter, the polls will continue to swing back and fourth like this. One week favoring McCain and the next favoring Obama.

I think you know what I'm talking about. Not those stupid dumb-shit adds where the other side uses hyperbole, a little truth, and some lies. I'm talking hard stuff...

Obama did drugs...great.

Obama did gay stuff...great.

Obama wants to teach children about sex...great.

And my personal favorite: Obama isn't American because he replaced the American flag on his campaign plane with his american flag decorated campaign logo...great.

But what about something that doesn't sound as lame as a scary story for 5-year olds?

You know, where Obama out and out contradicts himself like a fool. (McCain style.)

I searched youtube up and down and found a vid about Obama bad mouthing an issue to the Canadian ambassador. Meh...weak.

I believe OH will turn back to Obama, VA and FL, no way.

IN, I'm not sure, it's unlikely.

538 projections:

Electoral vote: Obama 284.8, McCain 253.2

Win percentage: Obama 61.2%, McCain 38.8%

Popular Vote: Obama 49.5%, McCain 49%

An Indianapolis Star poll has Obama up 3 in Indiana, 47-44

FL is a pretty much red state, and most polls have McCain ahead a considerable amount.

VA, I just don't see turning blue.

We'll let Virginians and Floridians have the final word on that though.

Of course. This is just my opinion.

538.com's projections:

Electoral college: Obama 303.1, McCain 234.9

Win Percentage: Obama 71.5, McCain 29.5

Popular Vote: Obama 50.1%, McCain 48.3%

made a math error, corrected.

Yeah, Obama's gonna win.
