Batman Arkham Asylum

What would've been interesting is if Killer Croc met Bane and the two fought eachother. I don't know if Eidos knows it or not but a while back in the Batman comics, Croc and Bane really hated eachother.

It's sad that there aren't as many villains in this game as there should've been. I've been hearing a crap load of announcements on a bunch of villains and when I played this game, it didn't have those villains that were announced. I don't want to see just the villain's accessories, I want to see them in person and fight them.

I prefer having only a few select villains that fit in with the story and the style, then just making it a mindless brawler against every batman foe, it seems they picked villains that worked and tied in with the plot; villains who could be exploited in an interactive medium and the grim/gritty style of the game.

That's far better then just throwing in the same repetitive boss fight over and over again, other comic book games....like Spider-Man could learn alot from that.

As long as you make the characters important I would settle for 4 boss battles with 4 Batman foes, I'd rather have that then 64 mindless forced beat em up fights with re-skinned banes.

That's really what sequels are for. Adding in the content that players really want added, after playing the first game.

Personally, I'm pleased with what they did. There's a surprising amount of content in the game, all told, though some of the story is only known by fulfilling extra challenges (collecting all of the Riddler's riddles, and discovering the identity of the Spirit of Arkham). Really, for a game clocking in at about 12 hours, seven well-done supervillains is an impressive feat.

Did anyone notice that music from the Dark Knight is added in this game? It's pretty fun to listen to when you stealthfully pick off enemies one at a time.

I see

Spoiler:
Scarface in the game but I don't see the Ventriliquist anywhere
. Would anyone like to make a guess on what happened to him?

Actually, the music is a combination of TAS and the Nolan series. Which I think worked out for the best. TAS music includes some of the best-known themes and stings for Batman, and Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard's style grounds what's happening in a sort of tense reality.

Spoiler:
Arnold Wesker isn't seen, but I imagine Joker simply found him in his cell and took the puppet. Wesker doesn't do much without Scarface to guide him.

Poor Wesker haha.

Also is the "watch the world burn" track in the game?

I'm still not sure if the game is using existing tracks, or merely incorporating the styles. Until there's an official music listing released, we won't know for sure.

I think, though, it's newly-composed music.

Finished and got every single collectible.

The game constantly surprised me with new areas and scripted events. Excellent art design and sound. Wicked voice overs (I know Joker was great but what made it really good was the excellent voice over on the regular henchman).

One thing was lacking in a huge way was boss fights. All of them weren't very memorable or good. Near the end, combat got a bit stale, I think a couple of more ways to dispatch foes would of been a great welcome.

Yes, all the voiceovers were amazing. I was pleasantly surprised by the henchmen's AI during Predator sections. I literally laughed out loud when I heard "What are you doing? Help me!" "You're on your own, man. Rules have changed."

As for the "boss" fights... at least they all managed to be different. I was disappointed in

Spoiler:
Titan Joker
, but the rest were all fairly true to character.

I havn't played the challenge maps. I probably won't because I have other games to play and I just wanted the game for its SP.

The boss fights might be true to character, but that doesn't make them fun. I just didn't enjoy them. They all seemed to follow the same formula. I thought the

Spoiler:
croc fight could of been handled much better. If it was handled like the scene in RE4, the guys in hooded gowns, it would of been awesome. Instead, you get some guy jumping out every few seconds, or jumping out twice at the same time. It was just lame. Joker fight was lame also. The only one I enjoyed was Scarecrows dream sequences. Everything else had the same forumula. 1. See boss 2. find out whats their secret 3. fight henchman 4. win. Considering the rest of the game is pretty interesting, the bad boss fights stick out

Overall, great game but good boss fights would of been awesome. I don't mind extremely difficult boss fights, but just interesting ones

Spoiler:
Which guys in hooded gowns? RE4 has kind of an excess of those. I can't think of a more interesting way to fight Croc. Fighting him normally would have been boring; he'd be Bane without tubes. Fighting him underwater, aside from being a stupid risk in-universe, would have required underwater mechanics that the rest of the game doesn't use. Instead, you get a tense sequence where you're forced to move slowly, guessing which direction to head next, with an objective that isn't actually fighting Croc. It's survival more than anything else, and I preferred it to a traditional battle.

I disliked Ivy's use of henchmen as a difficulty booster, but at least she was a different style of boss than the rest.

Umm, I think they're called Verdagos? Salazars personal bodyguards.

At first

Spoiler:
crocs sequence was good. You didn't know where he came from, or whatnot. But once you figure out how to get rid of him, the entire tension was gone. I didn't even bother trying to be quite most of the time. I just think it could of been done a lot better. I'm not a developer so I can't say exactly how to do it but I was bored. Too me, not a good boss fight. I also think shorter would of been better. Poison Evy boss fight was also kinda of boring. You just hit X and spam the batarang. There wasn't really anything to it. Bane was the only boss fight I liked but after doing it 15 times (all the titans), it was just overplayed.

Rid, the part in the ending is indeed
Spoiler:
Bane. It's got his gauntlet, with the Venom tube coming off of it.

Spoiler:
Apparently the ending is not always the same. There are 3 semi-endings actually. Sometimes it's Croc, sometimes it's Bane, and at other times it's Scarecrow.

For me, I saw Croc. Y'all must've saw Bane when you beat it.

Also, [spoiler]Scarecrow merely falls in the water, and at the time Croc is very distracted with Batman. And as with all Batman media, villains rarely really die. I'm pretty sure he survived, whisked out to sea or something.

Yep. 😄

Yeah, me too. That got annoying, especially on hard mode.

And I agree with Smasandian about Croc. It was just... meh.

Yeah, I got that ending also.

Ah, alternate endings. Cool.

I hope for the sequel that they go into Gotham City. It would be really cool to see what they do. I suspect they will continue to evolve the stealth aspect more instead of the brawler. Well, I hope they do.

After recently playing the Crime Alley challenge map (DLC that came with the collectors edition), I'm hoping they have it in the city too. That would be amazing (not that Arkham Island wasn't).

I could totally see some sort of "Batman: Gotham Knight" sequel set in the city and featuring another handful of Rogues. The lead-in for

Spoiler:
Two-Face
at the end provides a handy first chapter for the game (or even some bridging DLC!) and I'm sure a great many people would like to see Catwoman and Freeze, among others, better-represented. Personally I'd love a sequence where Batman heads to the Iceberg Lounge to interrogate Penguin. As well as some evidence of Gotham's mob corruption.

If there is a sequel then I certainly would like to see more of Gothams mob, for instance they could have a full on mob war between, Black Mask, Great White Shark, Penguin, Scarface etc; with different foes working for each figure head.
