HERO HIGH 2 - The Mystery

Derek posed his book on the table, not turning to face her.

''You are that woman Skiv talked to me about, aren't you''.

He could feel her power. It was greater than his.

''You are aware of your actions as I am aware of mine. I will deal with you at the appropriate moment.''

Still not looking at her.

''Have you come all this way, just to tell me this useless information... that I already knew?''

"Space is of no matter to me, Derek. All this way is no way at all when you walk it in righteousness. You may be growing in power, Derek, but you are decreasing in strength"

Yuna kept her head low, although kept her senses on alert. She kept her eyes focused on the floor in front of her, rather than on Derek. Despite his ways, she showed him the same respect that she showed all people.

"I don't mind paying if I get to hear you purr." He laughed. "So is that one of your powers; telepathy or what ever you call it?" Serin moved up to the canteen, aquiring two trays through telekenisis. He handed one to Meo. "So lets see, don't you like pizza?" Serin repeated, looking at the food on offer.

"You better have a big wallet then. Because when I eat, I eat. And do not say I did not warn you. I dont mind pizza, for as long as I get some fish to it. And my 'power' is, according to teacher Alice, is called Empathy, which supposively works in the way that everyone emit an aura of emotions that I percieve": She stood behind him and waited, allowing him to do the orderings.

Joel sat down in the chair in front of Alice and finally noticed...he wasn't in his school uniform. It was a strange day indeed for him...getting hit by a chimney...in the hallway and meeting some strange green woman whom he has never seen before at this school. Joel was a brilliant student but lazy and would often ditch class.

"So, what would you like to talk about today, Billy?": Alice smiled at the boy where he sat on the opposite side of her desk. She closed the book she was reading and placed it in the drawer beneath her. She removed her glasses and placed them on the desk, before leaning back in her chair and observed him.

Derek understood what she meant. He could feel it too. Turning his body, he looked at her.

''Then I shall find strenght in my power. You know this, you have perceived it. That is why you were worried and came to me.''

He walked slowly to her, stopping a few meters from her to show her respect, as she gave him. He was not angry. He was curious.

''You know that soon even my powers will outgrow yours. And yet you come to me, with no intention of killing me, as it might be your last hope of doing so. For we both know that at this moment you can. Soon, however, you will not be able to do a thing against me. Why hold your strike now? Why let me live, why give me a chance to greatness, beyond what anyone has achieved before''.

Derek smiled.

''No doubt you did think that with my death, after the speak I just made, your doing would create a war between the Guild and the School?''

Skiv's facial expression become less happy and more serious as he looked into camilles eyes with a gaze that indicated how deathly serious he was.

"We need you to help us take control of the school?"

"You will find no strength. Not in fear"

She raised her head and watched him where he stood, where he spoke. She shook her head to his words, sighing in disappointment to what he said.

"I do not strike you down, because unlike you, I stick to what I believe in. I do not fear you now, I will not fear you tomorrow, and I most certainly will never fear the power that you are gaining. In greed lays weakness. I came here merely to inform you that you want to wage war against people of peace and serenity. Any of my students could take you down at the present, but none will. And not because I have told them not to, but because they, like me, are prevented by their beliefs. Bloom believes there is good in all men, while Ace of Tales believe you are not worth the trouble"

She paused for a moment.

"Success builds character, failure reveals it. You will fail before you succeed, but only once you have succeeded will you realise that you have failed. You will see, Derek, within time you will"

Serin selected a burger and chips, putting them on the tray, and bread roll filled with tuna for later. Serin turned to Meo. "What do you fancy?" He quickly grabbed another tuna roll and placed it on her tray and smiled. It wasn't often he had a girl for company, especially one that was a real kitten so to speak.

Derek looked down. Her words seemed right. Everything she said was. He could just learn his powers in peace... and yet, what she said repulsed him even more.

''You have your views and I have mine.''

He walked closer to her, calmly. He respected her, meant her no harm. She had a strong presence, as did her. They were not bound to cross eachother on this day, he did not feel it.

''There is a way for each, and you would be surprised how they may differ. You speak as you know the one path, however, there is more than righteousness in this world. It all depends on the referential you are in. And it is clear I am not in yours.''

He was contemplating her face. It was beautiful. Looking in her eyes, he knew he was speaking with a wise one, like himself. But they clearly didn't agree.

''I have learned that there is success in failure, as much as there is failure in success. You speak of fear in an immaterial manner. But it is material. You can create your own fear, as you can dissemble it. Even now, as I speak to you, as I am one finger away of a possible death, I do not fear it. I welcome death if it comes. And I will not let fear obstruct my mind no more. But, you... will you have fear if one day you get sucked in one of my darkhole?''

He looked directly in her eyes, seeing the gap that seperated their mentality.

''You speak of what you know, yet you know only what is in your mind. If I kill, it will be for my belief. What is on my mind.''

Jeffrey teleported to Bloom, As one of his powers happened to be teleportation "Hello Bloom. " He then pulled out a green crystal "The Crystal of Flora, The Original Queen of Plants. Take it. "

"I do not fear you. I fear for you. You too fear. With such power and so little strength, you fear to lose your powers. What are you without it? Broken. If I lose my power, I still have my belief. If you lose yours, you lose your belief. For as it seems right now, you believe in power. You have showed it over and over again. You could not see it, but fate has tested you today. You value power over mind. Mikael. You value power over belief. Justice. You value power over love. Alice. You have prooven it occasionally today"

She took her hand out of her robe and moved it trough the air. Beneath her did a white cloud appear and she was engulfed in it up to her neck. She looked at Derek one more time, before the cloud covered all of her body, then dissolved, leaving an empty spot where Yuna has stood. Yet, her voice went trough the room.

"People can live one hundred years without really living a minute. There is dignity in suffering; nobility in pain; but failure is a salted wound, that burns and burns again. You will grow as powerful as you have dreamt of, Derek, you will indeed, but to what price? You will be a king. The King of sand. The King of nothing at all. You will have no one. You will have nothing. Nothing except your powers, but what is power, if you have no one to share it with?"

Vash took another drag of his cigarette and leaned against the wall next to the entrance of Hero High. He finished it and threw it down on the ground, stomping it out. He decided to see what Bloom is up to, from curiosity and maybe boredom. He went into the hallway and started pacing through it, trying to locate Bloom, and maybe someone else that he sees in his way.

(Not even I know where Bloom is 😛)

Bloom peered Jeffrey as he appeared, giving her the crystal. She remained silent and watched him for a while, before with hesitation took it. She eyed Jeffrey and then started looking at it. She werent that much for jewels and fancy glimmering things, but it was indeed a pretty object. Suddenly, a hand reached for it and snatched it out of her hand.

"Heeey!"

Bloom turned around to get her crystal that Jeffrey had given her, but noticed that Luciela had snatched it out of her hand.

"Oh, you. That's my crystal. It even is named after me!"

Luciela smirked and patted Bloom on the head, keeping the crystal out of Blooms reach teasingly, then turned towards Jeffrey and spoke.

"From where did you get this?"

Bloom frowned, crossing her arms in frustration of Luciela, but decided not to try do anything about it. Whatever reason Luciela had, she probably had a good one.

Jeffrey "Well You do know i am very rich right? I happen to know someone who sells mystical artifacts. "

She closed the book she was reading and placed it in the drawer beneath her. She removed her glasses and placed them on the desk, before leaning back in her chair and observed him.

"...eh...it would seem...I'm losing control of my powers," Joel told her. Both he and his best friend Elton had the same kind of powers but it was only Billy that was having loss of control of it at times.

John roamed the halls flipping through his physics book paying little attention to his soundings. He was using his powers to keep him from running into anything like a wall or column by sensing any objects in his line and simply walking away from it as though he was looking dead at it. It required very little focus to perform and allowed him to do his studying while on the move.

Jeffrey then said to Bloom "Can you sense what i am sensing? Shadow has grown more powerful with his abilities and is still evil. "

"You bought it? Oh, your quite the Romeo, arent you? I'll just go ahead and keep this one. Bloom is more the flowery kind of girl, while jewels are my area"

Luciela smirked and threw the crystal up into the air. She clapped with her hands twice and an eagle appeared out of nowhere, snatched the crystal and as Luciela clapped with her hands again, the eagle vanished along with the crystal.

Bloom arched an eyebrow to Luciela and shook her head. She turned then to listen to Jeffrey as he started talking about Shadow. Bloom sighed, held her head tight with both hands and kept her eyes closed.

"Does he NEVER give up?! No more fighting. Not today. I can't take it. I didn't escape only to get into a world with even more violence. Had I known of all this evil, I should have stayed in Nevada"

As Bloom finished her sentence, roots came up from the ground beneath her, grabbed her and had the earth swallow the green girl. As she vanished, the earth went back to its original state as if nothing had happened, only Bloom was no longer there.

"Oookeeey. Wacko"

Luciela eyed the ground where Bloom just was, and scratched her head.

Jeffrey then said to Luciella "If Shadow comes here, Tell him i was never here." Jeffrey "Phoenix Burst. " He then vanished.

She left a much troubled Derek, lost in his thoughts. What she had said proved what he thought. She could read minds. She felt it, it seems. And as he thought about it, he crumbled on the floor and started crying. Not a hopeless cry, but a cry about what he had become. Was there no justice, no love in what he was doing? What did he love?

Bringing himself up on his feet, he stopped sobbing.

''I love myself, and all that derives from it. And all other things shall be tossed aside''.

Something made him say that, he wasn't sure what. But he could feel it, and madness was not far behind. No, he was the same Derek he always were, the same as when he entered this Hero high, at 13 and met Alice. But now, what he thought, he could actually do.

''But even the sand can move when the wind commands it''.

He knew now what he had to do. This encounter with purity, made him realise how far he was from it. And he would have to live and die as such, no remedy could cure it.

''You were right, angel, you were right. I have spent all my strenght in my power. The two should be seperated. From then on my power will be used to my strenght, and not the other way arround.''

He dropped all delusion of peace and prosperity. He wanted to rule. He needed to rule. He deserved to rule. He would become the greatest, the most powerful being on this planet, with the world as its strenght. That was his vision, that was his will. And he would make sure that it happened, by any way possible. And he would kill all that that stood in his way. Including the Guild and its leader.

''Hear me, woman, my strenght will be seen in the ways I deal with such as you. All that do not respect me will suffer and die. THIS IS MY WILL! And my belief''.

Suddenly, concern came into his mind. Mind reader... he couldn't trust Mikeal, not anymore.

Waiting to sense the dissapearing of her spirit, he went to get a blank book. Inside, he wrote his code, all that he said, the way he thought the world should work, and how he could attain it. His plan, his state of mind. Everything that has transpired in the last few moments.

Thinking about it, he wrote how he could attain strenght while seperate it from power. Values, moral he held dear, respect and obedience.

When all was written, he added one last thing. A note telling him that a part of his mind, holding all this knowledge, has yet to be opened, in order to release his vision, and to let his reign start. However, it could not be opened until he reach his true power, his ultimate standard, and having rallied as much people to his cause as possible, before striking.

Derek knew that someone would sooner or later comprehend this within his mind. And so he decided to block everything in the book from his memory, damaging the link between this information and the rest of his brain, rendering it unreadable.

Once all was done, with a smirk smile, he looked at his reflection in a piece of the mirror he had broken earlier.

''I'll see you soon''.

And with that, he held a finger on his head, sensing the information he wanted to hide, to close. Once he got everything, he let a bolt run throught his head, throught his brain, damaging the neuronal linkage, trapping the information. A second later, he fell unconscient.

---

Derek woke up. He had a major migraine, as if he was hit with amnesia.

''Damn, he said looking at the mirror, did I fall?'' He had no idea why he was there, and frankly he didn't care. Was Alice near? He looked up. No one.

Walking a little bit, his feet hit what seemed to be an old book. One he had never seen before. Opening it, he read parts of it, very fast. Closing it after 5 minutes, he put it back on the shelf without even reading a quarter of it. Ultimate power? King of Sand? What the hell was this book about anyway? He didn't think such shit had found place in his lab.

Making order in the room, he decided to leave the studying for later. He wanted to go see Alice.

Shadow sure enough appeared and thought of the Happy Memory and then sighed deeply wondering if he should kindap Luciella or not. He then made his decision and formed a black bubble around her leaving a note for Jeffrey. 20 Minutes later Jeffrey appeared in the room, having grabbed his power disabler gun and looked at the note "Oh No!" Jeffrey then teleported to Bloom once more "Wish me Luck Dear. I have to go confront the Wild Beast that Shadow is. I will not fight him now. Luciella will merely be rescued. "

"Magic? I'm flattered"

Luciela touched the black bubble that surrounded her investigatingly, then looked around to find Shadow. She rolled her eyes, guessing he was either that shadow character the other guy spoke of earlier, or he was another one of those bounty hunters. Either way, his tricks were as futile as the former ones.

"Next time you are going to catch someone, make sure it's someone you CAN catch, handsome. I am not that someone"

She placed her hands together, and she then dissolved, as if she was a drawing and was erased by an india rubber. Within moments, she was completely gone and the bubble floated empty.
