She left a much troubled Derek, lost in his thoughts. What she had said proved what he thought. She could read minds. She felt it, it seems. And as he thought about it, he crumbled on the floor and started crying. Not a hopeless cry, but a cry about what he had become. Was there no justice, no love in what he was doing? What did he love?
Bringing himself up on his feet, he stopped sobbing.
''I love myself, and all that derives from it. And all other things shall be tossed aside''.
Something made him say that, he wasn't sure what. But he could feel it, and madness was not far behind. No, he was the same Derek he always were, the same as when he entered this Hero high, at 13 and met Alice. But now, what he thought, he could actually do.
''But even the sand can move when the wind commands it''.
He knew now what he had to do. This encounter with purity, made him realise how far he was from it. And he would have to live and die as such, no remedy could cure it.
''You were right, angel, you were right. I have spent all my strenght in my power. The two should be seperated. From then on my power will be used to my strenght, and not the other way arround.''
He dropped all delusion of peace and prosperity. He wanted to rule. He needed to rule. He deserved to rule. He would become the greatest, the most powerful being on this planet, with the world as its strenght. That was his vision, that was his will. And he would make sure that it happened, by any way possible. And he would kill all that that stood in his way. Including the Guild and its leader.
''Hear me, woman, my strenght will be seen in the ways I deal with such as you. All that do not respect me will suffer and die. THIS IS MY WILL! And my belief''.
Suddenly, concern came into his mind. Mind reader... he couldn't trust Mikeal, not anymore.
Waiting to sense the dissapearing of her spirit, he went to get a blank book. Inside, he wrote his code, all that he said, the way he thought the world should work, and how he could attain it. His plan, his state of mind. Everything that has transpired in the last few moments.
Thinking about it, he wrote how he could attain strenght while seperate it from power. Values, moral he held dear, respect and obedience.
When all was written, he added one last thing. A note telling him that a part of his mind, holding all this knowledge, has yet to be opened, in order to release his vision, and to let his reign start. However, it could not be opened until he reach his true power, his ultimate standard, and having rallied as much people to his cause as possible, before striking.
Derek knew that someone would sooner or later comprehend this within his mind. And so he decided to block everything in the book from his memory, damaging the link between this information and the rest of his brain, rendering it unreadable.
Once all was done, with a smirk smile, he looked at his reflection in a piece of the mirror he had broken earlier.
''I'll see you soon''.
And with that, he held a finger on his head, sensing the information he wanted to hide, to close. Once he got everything, he let a bolt run throught his head, throught his brain, damaging the neuronal linkage, trapping the information. A second later, he fell unconscient.
---
Derek woke up. He had a major migraine, as if he was hit with amnesia.
''Damn, he said looking at the mirror, did I fall?'' He had no idea why he was there, and frankly he didn't care. Was Alice near? He looked up. No one.
Walking a little bit, his feet hit what seemed to be an old book. One he had never seen before. Opening it, he read parts of it, very fast. Closing it after 5 minutes, he put it back on the shelf without even reading a quarter of it. Ultimate power? King of Sand? What the hell was this book about anyway? He didn't think such shit had found place in his lab.
Making order in the room, he decided to leave the studying for later. He wanted to go see Alice.
