Well, technically you could, but that's usually the responsibility of the person who is starting a tournament. And there's a lot more to running effective tourneys than most people are prepared to deal with who haven't been involved with many of them (and even then, not everyone does it well).

That's a guide I made for potential directors, to give you an idea. It would be further hampered by the fact that another tournament is currently running, making interest and earnest participation extremely hard to come by.
You're probably much better off waiting until the next tourney rolls around, then entering. Like I said, saying it's months away may seem like a while, but if you're on KMC for a period of months/years, which you seem to be, you'll have an opportunity to enter several tournaments.

Yeah, they start next week. There'll be a few each week for a couple months now. Like I mentioned earlier, the tourney respect thread is also a good resource for researching past matches, debates, characters, and tendencies....though not quite as fun since it already happened.
yeah i was checking them out they were very interesting, the actually had me pretty excited..i was wondering do u think at all possible is there enough interest to have scrimmages? Not full blown tourneys but like 1 on 1 bouts. It could actually go year round. with people ranking thru-out the year based on w/l scenarios
darthgoober started a concept like that a while ago called The Battlezone. You might be able to find it in a search. It outlined some basic rules to help the process, but was basically just a way for people to set up 1-on-1 bouts with others who might be interested. You'd have to find your own judges and such, and also set parameters, but it's not impossible.
That, and my guess is that anyone in the tourney wouldn't be able to devote the proper effort to another endeavor right now. Sin would be better off looking outside tourney threads, perhaps via PM to people who frequent the vs. forum and might be interested.
Goober and I were supposed to have one over the summer as well, but it fell through for a number of reasons. It's still tentatively happening someday, but no time soon with the tourney going.

Also, I've been thinking of a BCS-style all-time competitor ranking system, which would be based on a "coaches poll" of numerous prominent figures in tournaments, as participants, judges, or hosts. It would be a footnote in some post in the respect thread probably. The potential for fun is there, as well as recognition of talent and effort, but it's also dangerously close to the back-patting and/or potentially catty stuff that I generally avoid.

I was thinking of implementing it after this tourney, then updating it maybe yearly. It would basically ask for a poll from a lot of people, then weight it much like they do for college football. There'd have to be specific criteria, which wouldn't be hard to establish. The fact that it won't be a FFA discussion, and it's an anonymous peer opinion poll, means that I doubt anything negative will come of it....and is the main reason I'm not pulling the plug on it before acting on it.
