Well I watched this film early this morning.
First and foremost I would have to say that I honestly believe this movie is quiet a bit better than most are giving it credit for.
Is it a masterpiece?
Far from it. But at the same time I can't say this movie was terrible either. For die hard fans of the Dragon Ball series I would say their is plenty to ***** about. The story is changed around, the dialogue is painfully cheesy at times, and I would have to say Piccolo just pretty much stands around the whole film. They never really build the character as a truley powerful villian and he seems to be thrown in the mix just for the sake of having a bad guy in the movie.
But despite all this,my biggest problem with this film is that the pace is just way to fast. Much of the movie feels rushed, especialy the final battle. Had it been slowed down just 1 or 2 notches I believe the film would have come across much stronger and the characters would of had a more lasting impression.
The good.
Their are some really genuine Dragon Ball moments in the film.
Goku trying to fix his hair is classic, and as mentioned above, allowing the bully to deystroy his own car was great.
Though Master Roshi seems to be a far cry from his counterpart in the cartoon, the part is translated to the movie pretty solid.
Bulma wasn't god awful. A bit too serious at times (which made it come across as funny at times).
Yamcha I thought was decent, but possibly the weakest part of the cast.
His dialogue came across very cheesy to me.
Chi Chi was their. I wouldn't say her role in the movie was good or bad, but would call in uninspired.
As for Chawtins Goku, well it's a toss up at times.
Their were parts in this movie I thought to myself "who is this kid trying to play Goku?"
And at other times their were some genuine moments were he seemed to echoe Goku from the cartoon.
All in all I would say Dragon Ball is worth watching, though it has a lot of flaws,it still harbors some of the charm that made us love it in the first place.
If anything, fans will be dissapointed, but I think it might draw new fans in deeper just to see what Dragon Ball is all about.
Well the movie also had Goku growing up with Gohan, instead of him killing him as a child, and Piccolo killed him. Bulma only has two blue streaks in her bangs, Master Roshi's not a perverted old man, and Goku could use a ki wave thingy before he was even supposed to know what it was. There was no tournament, any of that.

Yeah you just don't understand the story Fox. The story is about taking Akira Toriyama and a script they wrote and place it on a table. They then bend him over the script that he wrote and continue to rape him. After they are done with the raping they throw away all of the DB/Z source material and use their own script which was the product child from the raping.
edit: Just switch the I and the Y
